No BOAT for me.

I've really tried everything to get the $BOAT into my custody account. I tried a total of 4 banks - no chance.

The security is only traded in the USA, but the problem is probably that the fund company has not prepared a cost sheet required for distribution in the EU. This means that it cannot be ordered through banks in this country.

This is where consumer protection shoots you in the foot. I find that really idiotic. Especially because, in my opinion, there is no similar ETF that you could use as an alternative.

The Sonic Share Global Shipping ETF invests in global shipping, spreads the risk of the industry across a number of companies and has attractive distributions. Actually, that's exactly what I wanted. ⚡️

Where did you try it? At $IBKR I would assume that it could work🤔 As far as I know, you can also buy Schwab Equity funds etc. for which there are no documents in accordance with EU regulations.

@All-in-or-nothing Ah, ok. I didn't try it there. I was more 'classic'. ING, Comdirect, HVB and Fürstlich Castell'sche Bank.

@NichtRelevant You will have the same problem with all banks in the EU. So maybe try a broker that operates internationally and only offers brokerage. Trading 212 might also work. However, both brokers are not tax-simple in Germany.

Do you have a bank/broker where you can write options? Then you could take the indirect route by writing a put on it and having it delivered to you.

@Olli68 I'm not sure about one of the banks. But I'm not familiar with options, so it would all be pretty new territory. But thanks for the tip and possible approach.
