The free cash flow estimates for this year are really low (-51% on fastgraphs), not sure if it will further drop or not, but after that it might look better. This is what chatgtp has to say about why FCFE is so low: FMC Corporation's free cash flow (FCF) to equity estimates for 2025 are projected to be significantly lower compared to 2024. The company forecasts FCF in the range of $200 million to $400 million for 2025, representing a decline of approximately 51% at the midpoint from the $614 million reported in 2024

Several factors contribute to this anticipated decrease:

Normalization of Working Capital: In 2024, FMC experienced an exceptional recovery in cash flow, primarily due to a significant reduction in inventory and rebuilding of payables. This was a one-time improvement, and the company expects working capital levels to normalize in 2025, leading to lower cash from operations

Increased Capital Expenditures: FMC plans to increase capital spending in 2025, focusing on essential projects such as capacity expansion to support new products. This uptick in capital expenditures will reduce the overall free cash flow .

Foreign Exchange Headwinds: The company anticipates a foreign exchange headwind of approximately $65 million to $75 million in 2025, which will negatively impact earnings and cash flow .

Lower Pricing and Sales Volume: FMC expects pricing to decline in the low-to-mid-single digits, primarily due to adjustments in certain "cost-plus" contracts resulting from lower manufacturing costs. Additionally, customers are maintaining lower inventory levels, leading to cautious purchasing behavior and impacting sales volume .

Increased Selling Costs: The company is investing in new routes to market, which will increase selling costs and further pressure free cash flow .

These combined factors contribute to the projected decline in FMC's free cash flow to equity for 2025.

@QUANTIJS That is absolutely correct. That's why there was the dip this year. Unfortunately, I was already invested beforehand and my buy-in is now just under €45. I think the bottom has been reached after the Trump dip and now the company has to deliver. Herbicides in particular will become even more important in the coming years as the world's population grows, and FMC is number 4 worldwide in this area after all
