On August 27 I made a mistake on Trade Republic.
I actually just wanted to $TEAM (-1.88%) actually just sell 1 share and keep the rest.
After that, I set a sell limit of 140 € —I thought that would protect me against a price drop.
My mistake:
A normal limit sell order means:
Sell for at least €140.
Since the price was already significantly higher, my remaining 2 shares were automatically sold.
In the end, I did sell at a profit, but I was still sad at first because I $TEAM (-1.88%) actually wanted to hold onto Atlassian longer.
But maybe it’s also a good sign:
I made a mistake, didn’t lose any money, and learned something important.
From now on, I know:
A limit order ≠ a stop-loss.
What do you think?
Have you ever made an order mistake like that yourself?
