Dietikon (awp) - Construction group Implenia has won new contracts in Germany and Norway for three bridge projects and an inner-city highway tunnel. The total order volume amounts to around 350 million euros.

The projects underline the Group's strategic focus on large and technically demanding construction projects. At the same time, they strengthened Implenia's position in the transportation infrastructure sector, according to the press release issued on Thursday.

Bridge projects in Germany

Specifically, Implenia was awarded the contract to build the new Wolgast Peene Bridge in Germany, which connects the island of Usedom with the mainland. According to the press release, the 1.4-kilometre-long drawbridge is one of the largest of its kind in Europe and is scheduled for completion by early 2030.

Also in Germany, Implenia is involved in the replacement construction of the Mainbrücke Marktbreit bridge on the A7 highway. The construction work is expected to last until 2033.

Projects in Norway and Frankfurt

In Norway, Implenia has been commissioned to build the new Lågen Bridge on the E6 highway north of Lillehammer. The 552-metre-long bridge will be built using the incremental launching method in order to minimize the impact on the ecologically sensitive Lågen delta, according to the press release.

Implenia is also part of a consortium for the construction of the new Riederwald inner-city highway tunnel in Frankfurt am Main. The approximately 1.1-kilometre-long tunnel forms the core of an important freeway gap closure in the east of the city and is due to be completed in around three years.
