I need the swarm intelligence of GetQuin!

What do you currently think of $COST (+2.29%) ?

Costco is in my view a solid, defensive company with a proven membership model and steady sales and earnings growth. The strong balance sheet and regular dividends make it attractive for long-term investors. However, the share is often highly valued and not a classic bargain. Which is why the current fall in the share price is very attractive... I bought it last week, and now I wanted to ask you whether you also own it or are planning to buy it?

Have a nice Sunday! 🫡

Above-average company, but currently too expensive for my taste

@thewolfofallstreetz-18% dip and still too expensive?

@slava_ukraine For me, yes: both when looking at the current multiples and in a DCF model. But it is a top company with many good characteristics, so a higher valuation may well be justified.

@thewolfofallstreetz I see it the same way. I was able to buy them in March 2023 for ~€450, which I thought was reasonably fair. I was planning to top it up again if necessary, but the price ran away from me. There are better options at the moment.

May fall another 15-20% before I get in

For me, the valuation is still far too high and the current risks are simply too many. It still has to fall by at least 15%, then it could become interesting for an initial investment.

According to the trade press, the most serious current problems are:

Price pressure due to import duties
Increased competitive pressure

In addition, there is partial customer dissatisfaction due to product range adjustments

Various restructuring measures in the logistics area.

General market weakness YTD after things were going well before.

Costco is actually at an interesting price point right now - there is a lot of liquidity between USD 875 and USD 910! This may well be a strong resistance level and could be worth an entry / trade😅

If the many buyers in this zone don't swear in their trades, then it will become critical and it could go back down to USD 850, but this threshold should hold, otherwise the next stop will be at USD 800 or USD 730.

PS: purely technical view - but volumes don't lie👆

Good but always expensive
The historically high P/E ratio has not stopped me from investing in Costco in the past. And I have always exited with good profits. Right now I find the share price attractive again and am considering getting in.
