Where do you currently stand in terms of assets and at what age?

I think we all realize here that we are in an elitist bubble that makes comparisons unnecessary.

In other words: I repeatedly read here about wonderful descriptions of prosperity, each within their means. One is a hard-working truck driver and has already saved and earned a considerable deposit at a young age. The other is equipped with a large budget thanks to his inheritance and is constantly and successfully increasing it. I personally celebrate every single story here anew every time.

At this point, I would like to take this opportunity to praise the entire community. I have always liked Getquin because it feels like there is no envy or resentment. No matter how big someone's fortune is ... at best, people look at it with admiration and orient themselves towards it. If only it were like that everywhere in society.

However, my second point comes directly here and refers once again to the aforementioned bubble in which we (are allowed to) move ... Humility is somehow part of it and at best reminds us all, but definitely reminds me personally, from the beginning and again and again, that this prosperity is something special and anything but self-evident.

Of course, on the way to this prosperity, we have also had to make sacrifices and learn or cultivate virtues - for example, I donate goods to the food bank every year for holidays, and children in particular simply receive gifts that they want or urgently need. (How do you do it?)

I digressed a bit...sorry!

So now to the main topic (without wanting to start a big sh** comparison here) ... I'm simply interested in whether my discipline so far has led me in the right direction despite starting my career late.

As of today, I can call myself the owner of the following goods:

100m2 maisonette in a very good and sought-after location - worth around 450k (bought for 270k)

Deposit size currently 211k (start 10/2019 at 0)

Physical gold (coins/cuffs/pocket watches) value approx. 7.5k

Art paintings (17th-19th century) Value approx. 20k

Relatively old but well-loved luxury cars, both efficient and inexpensive to maintain: Value approx. 15-18k

Rolex Datejust steel/gold - value approx. 2-3k

In everyday life I like it classic and inconspicuous, so there are no other riches in this sense.

Great friends, colleagues and family available and priceless. No amount of money in the world can replace health. But all this is only mentioned here in passing 😄

Age: 40

Roughly estimated assets, as of today: 710k

Educational background: Academic with a doctorate, managerial position in employment.

Current savings rate: 3k

Looking forward to your feedback and success stories 🙂

1000 thanks in advance and continued bubbly returns to you all 🫡

Your EvD

I don't feel like writing much right now, but I share your opinion 100% - the community here sticks together for the most part. Nobody is made to feel stupid
I love reading other people's investment stories. @Wiktor_06 recently shared his story here, which is really wonderful.
Was it the donkey @DonkeyInvestortor or @Epi who shared his story in 4 parts? I thought that was wonderful too.
We also have a wealth of expertise on Bitcoin here, including our dear @stefan_21
The only original ETF inventor @Simpson
Our dear @Tenbagger20244, who always pulls out some cool little stalls and (mostly) delivers incredibly good content.
Super nice people like @SAUgut77t77 or our @lawinvestvest
I love the community here.
I've written quite a lot now, even if it's a bit off-topic, but I've just thought about what the community here actually delivers

Thanks for your feedback. 😃 I actually enjoy reading many of the posts mentioned above on a regular basis. There is and always will be a very special flair here. And since the basic attitude here is so benevolent, I think that motivates everyone to stay tuned and have fun investing in the long term.

I started investing halfway in my early 30s and my assets (only stocks and crypto) are now around 80k (age 37). Depending on how I look at it, that's ridiculously little, a lot or neither 😆. If I compare myself to you, I feel poor, if I compare myself to people I know, I feel extremely rich...

I would put your assets at the very top for your age and there's no wrong way anyway, the main thing is to do something...whether for yourself, your family, your pension or something else...

@BlockBard I'm very happy about your feedback. 80k is enormous and a great achievement. 🙂 If you research where we all stand here in society as a whole, Getquin itself is a very spoiled bubble. I always like to write that you should pat yourself on the back in between. After all, with a stable portfolio (regardless of the amount), you can only win in the end. In my opinion, the best thing about personal financial wealth is the fact that money becomes less important in everyday life with every increase. That's why we all do it somehow, isn't it? Continued success and be proud of your achievements so far 🙂

Strong contribution and strong performance.🐝👍

I am 23 years old (still 24 this year) and currently a dual student (Bwl) and am now in my 5th semester.

My total assets currently consist of around €38,000 in financial assets and €3,000 in tangible assets. This makes a total of €41,000. Lg 😎

@paul_finesse_ Very stable foundation and great performance 🙂 There will be a lot more to come over the years, if life doesn't interfere with ideas or purchases 😎 Continued success 😃

I'll be 19 this year and have just broken the €10000 barrier.

I have inherited a 70m2 house from my grandmother in Poland and would like to rent it out later (approx. 550€ per month)

My goal is to reach 20000€ with the deposit by the age of 20.

I'm still at school and put all my mini-job salary into the respective shares.

Really stable. Kudos for your performance and attitude. 🙂 I was also interested in saving/investing or having money on the high side at that age, but that was kindergarten in comparison. In the past, there simply weren't the same resources as today. I really celebrate everyone, especially the younger members, who develop such a healthy relationship with money. 🫡

Nice words! 👌🏻
I'm 35 and "unfortunately" only started investing about 3 years ago without any savings/assets. I started with small sums and have built up a portfolio of around 17k over the 3 years in addition to a small nest egg. I live in a big city, don't have an exorbitant salary (hotel industry) and usually save/invest 30%.
Will that be enough for retirement provision at some point? Probably not!
Does it still give me a good feeling-YES, absolutely.
I think that everyone can be proud of what they achieve within their means✨

@Aennywhere Reads wonderfully. A big city and a hotel are certainly not an easy combination. All the more remarkable the achievement. Hats off and please keep it up 🙂
@Aennywhere Bullshit! That will be! 👍
profile image
That sounds very good for you. 👍

I also think it's very nice that people treat each other with respect on this platform. Admittedly, the mindset of the people in the community here probably also has a certain homogeneity.

I particularly like the fact that it feels like there are a lot of younger people here who are actively and quite successfully taking their wealth accumulation into their own hands.

I myself am now an older person and currently 50 years old. I stopped working a regular job 1.5 years ago and have been living mainly from my rental income since then. Of course, I'm still involved in various projects that challenge me. However, I no longer have any traditional customer contact (I was self-employed) and can now organize my time flexibly. I consider this to be very fortunate.

My assets are heavily weighted towards real estate. My wife and I have a joint portfolio of 60 residential units (no, not all paid off yet!, around 2.2 million still need to be repaid). The securities portfolio is therefore only a small part of our net worth. I don't have any additional pension provision, as I have never had to pay into the statutory pension scheme as a self-employed person and therefore decided from the outset to provide for my old age completely privately. Portfolio and real estate are therefore not a supplement to the statutory pension, but rather what has to feed and provide for me and my family.
(So the following applies to me: Watch out! Don't fuck up or make any risky bets. 😅)

profile image
@NichtRelevant Sorry for the late reply. Amazing, I take my hat off to this investment performance. How can you manage 60 WE alongside your job? I assume you have a small network in the background with such a constellation... in any case, you deserve early retirement. Enjoy it and thanks for the feedback on my post 🙂
profile image
@_EvD_ the apartments are mainly in eastern Germany. So they are not 60 units in Hamburg or Munich. In most cases, I have tried to buy a whole house with several units where possible. Then you have the option of using a property management company and they take care of a good part of the administration, billing and tradesmen commissions. I also have tradesmen that I work with again and again, but that was a process that simply developed over the years.

Sometimes I've just been lucky, as I've assessed locations and situations fairly correctly. Of course, there were also a few things that I messed up, but that's also part of the process.
I'm 51, a civil servant, and after today's good run my portfolio stands at around 670k. That's basically it for my assets.
I've forgotten just under 35k in a Riester pension.
You forgot to tell me exactly what kind of classic car you have. I have an old 126 Mercedes myself.

@Solitair Oh, very solid depot. Congratulations. 🙂 I have two old but much-loved carrots, not vintage but 10 and almost 20 years old. 1x Swedish, 1x British. 😄
1
@Solitair Should acquired pension entitlements be included in the assets here?
@Gehebeltes-EFH I personally don't think so, I haven't entered my Riester here either. but interesting point, if that was meant seriously. But with what value?
@Solitair That was meant quite seriously. Bi7n 52 and also a civil servant. ChatGPT gives the capitalized pension entitlement as € 610,000.
@Gehebeltes-EFH and have you entered the value here? Basically, this would have to be assessed actuarially and chatgpt often makes one or two mistakes with such subtleties. The whole thing is also subject to a condition precedent, because you first have to reach retirement age as a civil servant, e.g. if you resign, the pension is gone or if the views of morons like Ms. Bas prevail.
But I only enter my share investments and crypto here, although I know of course that in principle you can enter anything from a watch collection to real estate.
@Solitair You are right. There are a number of imponderables.

When I look at my asset situation, I only include the custody account.
I can only agree, I am 24 years old and currently at 31k portfolio value🦦

@Hidalidsch Very stable for their age. 🙂 I've already written this repeatedly this evening - I find all the members here particularly enriching, who are either still quite young and have already saved up for sport or who have just started and are fighting their way through everyday life despite sometimes difficult conditions. That's why the figures hardly seem to matter. Good returns and happy stock market experiences 🫡

As I'm already a bit older (> 60), I'll allow myself to contribute a bit of life experience. Everyone should use the opportunities available to them in order to be as little dependent as possible on the arbitrariness of other people. This applies all the more with increasing age. The older you are, the more unpleasant it is to be determined by others. I can only advise anyone in their thirties today not to rely on the fact that they will be provided for later. Your pension may be "secure", but I think it's highly questionable whether you'll be able to pay your rent from it afterwards. Even today, a financial buffer of 150K is considered appropriate for a relaxed retirement, provided you don't have to pay rent. Otherwise more. In general, it has been clever to date to balance your assets across several pillars. Of course, all this takes a lot of work, but it is feasible and gives you a priceless feeling of independence in old age. With this in mind: keep going!

@Grassberger Sorry for the late reply. Thank you very much for this great contribution. I think it's very valuable, as life experience is very much appreciated from the age of 30 at the latest - if you don't listen to more experienced people who provide good input, you'll end up looking stupid at some point. In any case, I see it very similarly and suspect that the vast majority of people here are probably striving for precisely this inner freedom. Have fun in your self-determined everyday life 🙂

@Grassberger I can only agree with your statement. If you want it to work, take responsibility and do it yourself. Thank you for your experience.

@Vito69 Sounds absolutely solid. Congratulations on that. In a few years, with the same motivation, it will be a completely different sum 😀
I am currently 26 and have been investing for about 4 years.
I have just moved house and my total assets (liquid) are currently around 40,000 euros.
The money is self-earned (fortunately nothing inherited).
As many have already said, the money is not much compared to Getquin. On average, however, it's quite a nice sum.

I find it exciting to read all the comments here and can only agree with what you say. I'm still completely new here and hardly know anything about investing (which will hopefully change soon).

I am 27 years old, a student and completed an apprenticeship before my studies. So I hardly have any reserves.

However, my grandmother closed one of her securities accounts last month and transferred a quarter of it to me. Now I suddenly have a portfolio worth €70,000 and I think it's incredibly valuable to have this kind of starting capital to get to grips with the topic and hopefully increase the budget constantly.

Am I happy with myself? I should be (if you consider where I come from), but I'm not.

Hello, I am 29 years old, a civil servant and my portfolio value is currently around 6k.
5 years ago I bought a property in which I live together with my future wife :)
As expected, the purchase of the house and the renovation have set me back considerably in terms of asset accumulation, but owning our own house has always been our wish.
At the moment, investing due to the loan and building up the nest egg again is a minor matter anyway :)
As soon as the nest egg is in place, we can finally get going again.

Started trading in 2018, still in training at the time, was lucky enough to get into project management straight after training, so was able to invest a good sum. But then I realized that it wasn't for ever and started studying. I only quit my good job for the great luxury and security of my savings. The fact is, I'm now a 24-year-old trainee in a top company with 80k in my portfolio. I didn't inherit anything, but I've always had the good fortune to live cheaply. I think that's the only reason I was able to save that up :)

That's probably why I want to own assets

Yes, you're absolutely right getquin is a bubble of its own and can't be compared with the rest of Germany. You should never forget where you come from and what virtues you have inherited from your parents, which seem to be very similar here in the community (my partner and I come from rather poor families ourselves).

Then to me:

Owner of a two-family house, I have now paid a little less attention to the deposit because of the property and still have a little in physical gold.
After deducting loans, my assets amount to 105,000 euros
I wouldn't put an actual value on paintings or collector's items that I have bought, as I mainly bought them because I thought they were beautiful or cool and can't put a value on them.

Age 24
Educational background: A-levels/ commercial training and various further training courses in bookkeeping/controlling/property management
