GTT $GTT (+8.16%) has recently received an exciting order from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. It is for the design of cryogenic tanks for 12 large LNG-powered container ships. 🚢
The ships will be equipped with tanks that have a capacity of 12,750 m³ and use the innovative Mark III Flex Membrane System. What makes it special? The tanks are designed to operate at up to 1 barg - which is more than the usual standard of 0.7 barg. This technology could help to meet the strict future regulations for shipping.
But why is this important? By using LNG as fuel, ships can save up to 25,000 tons of CO2 per year, according to GTT. A real step forward for the maritime energy transition!
The delivery of these ships is planned for 2027 to 2028. Do you think LNG is the future of shipping? What do you think about alternative fuels? 👍
