Vertex drop today

Hi everyone,

does anyone have any info on why $VRTX (-0.59%) is going down the tubes today?

I couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance :)

@Kytez
The figures were already there yesterday. That's why I'm surprised

The sharp decline came after the company announced its results for the first quarter of 2025 on Monday evening. Vertex reported first-quarter revenue of $2.77 billion, up 3% from the previous year. Adjusted earnings totaled $1.24 billion, or $4.76 per share, compared to $1.05 billion, or $4.06 per share, in the year-ago period. However, both revenue and earnings fell short of Wall Street consensus estimates. Vertex also announced that the portion of the Phase 1/2 trial evaluating its experimental messenger RNA (mRNA) therapy VX-522 for the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF) with escalating multiple doses has been temporarily suspended. The company did not provide any details, stating only that there was a "tolerability issue".

@Smudeo @TomTurboInvest I really don't want to be nasty, so don't hold it against me. Vertex is my absolute top favorite stock in the biotech sector, in which I myself am heavily invested - but once again the MRNA shot backfires. And this time I have to take the book losses myself.

@Soprano I assume that you have included me here because of my $BNTX purchase. Scientific research has always been characterized by setbacks, but that doesn't stop me from continuing to support BioNTech 😅
If the level is right, I will continue to top up 🤷‍♂️

@Soprano
Vertex doesn't just have one drug.
Vertex is a long runner and there is still a lot in the pipeline

@Tenbagger2024 They rely on several horses and technologies, including CRISPR

@Soprano
I don't understand why so many people rely on Novo or Merck, but Vertex is hardly ever mentioned

@Tenbagger2024 Vertex is still an insider's tip Most people don't actually know about Vertex because they mainly deal with rare diseases such as mucoviscidosis.
