To be honest, I'm now afraid to work out how much of my gross goes to the state or state-related institutions through all kinds of channels. Social security ... Est. ... capital gains tax. ... VAT. ... you-name-it tax or levy.

•@DumpMoney It scares me too, this self-service mentality of our government. It borders on modern-day highway robbery. First you're told that your pension won't be enough to live on and that you should make your own provisions, and then some of your savings are taken away. If the government were serious about this, there would be much higher tax-free allowances. The 1000 euros is a joke, because you only save 25% tax plus solidarity surcharge. So not even 300 euros. And you're supposed to use that to make up for the pension gap.
It's a disgrace what our politicians are doing.
