@Eochaid "Personality (and I would add: character) begins where comparison ends." (Karl Lagerfeld)

Sorry, but your comparisons are exactly the kind of whataboutism that you (often justifiably) accuse others of. And that is honestly very, very strange to me.

Hence the insistent question:

Do ONE PAIR of neo-Nazis justify the invasion of one country into another?! Your reading of the conflict and war is shocking and demeaning to an entire SOUVERE country. You have not the slightest right to defend and/or compare this WAR OF ATTACK! You are, and I emphasize this now more than ever, with your comparison putting me and many other people, who also condemn the aggressions in other countries, below your opinion! With your renewed statements you are crossing a red line at least as much as one does not go for a walk with Nazis! YOU make yourself, and yes, because you don't understand it any other way and you are slowly but surely coming to seem more like a radical diehard to me, exactly the same as tyrants.
You know... your commitment against the right in all honor (you have no clue with whom you are discussing here and whom you are doing a disservice with your statements) but your statements are neither transferable to the entirety of the people there, nor are they justification enough to wage a war of aggression, nor does it give you the right to make comparisons with innocent people all over the world, nor are you better than some fascist in Berlin, Brandenburg or Mecklenburg-Vorpommern... you are obviously a person who defines his true way of thinking as anti-fascist under the guise of tolerance (obviously only towards people who speak the same way as you) and at the same time generalizes people with his statements and then dismisses them with "so clever" sayings.
Yes... I just realized that I didn't respond to your rebuttals under my other post... do you want to know why? Because that evening, after 12 hours of work, I met Russian and Ukrainian acquaintances (including two work colleagues) and none of these people from these two countries can understand your argumentation and that of the DICTATOR of Russia. And no, they are not outright opponents of Putin. Two of the people of Russian origin were at pro-Russian demonstrations not so long ago.
The CLEAR and IMPOSSIBLE statement of all participants at the meeting: THIS is a war of aggression and cannot be justified by any (hypocritical) explanation!
YOU, however, show neither character, nor decency, nor respect for your fellow human beings with your behavior. Your behavior in the fight against the right and other extremism does not justify your attitude towards sovereign countries with their own problems. Who are you as a German to presume to decide on the welfare or your favor towards other countries or fellow human beings? Because of your ancestry, YOU are committed to peace, prosperity for all, the idea of freedom and justice - just like every other person in this world. YOU enjoy your privileges and arm yourself with your actions against racism and misanthropy but sterilize UNJUSTIFIED ATTACKS on other countries!
I ask you: Why do most countries see this attack for what it is? Are you telling me the entire world is inferior and blinded to fascism?
I say NO! I say NO to misanthropes! I say NO to radical nutcases and extremists! I say NO to disrespectful behavior and hatred! I say NO.

I have now made my stand. Since you keep throwing the same incomparable and whataboutism justifications into the ether for me and others, I have to show you clear boundaries here! Once again, you are writing here with people you don't have a clue about... and that despite my previous apparent openness on this platform. I don't expect any other reaction for the reasons mentioned and I think that's a damn shame! But it proves to me that the thought patterns of our left have PLEASANTLY NOT CHANGED in 20 years!

"For freedom, for life, ....!" - you know how the slogan goes on... and I'll add: ...sweep dictators, misanthropes, aggressors off the streets!

Edit says: Did you watch the Bundestag yesterday? Even the party "Die Linke" has distanced itself from this behavior and its justification. So they're all fascists, are they? Nice and simple!

@Eochaid
I have never praised NATO, nor would I ever think of doing so. Why should I?
I am just as opposed to arms sales, both in times of peace and in times of war. Obviously, however, this "being against" does not have its time when the other party (in this case Putin and his lackeys) literally shits on diplomacy and shoots!

If you argue that sanctions will only affect the population, then for better or worse you are partly right, although the dynamic development (see Switzerland) also points to and is aimed at his "Circle of Trust".
And yes... in dictatorships and totalitarian states in particular, such restrictions initially affect the population, which proves that these tyrants and misanthropes have precisely this kind of mindset and exposes it. Simply doing without is not a solution either. And we are also sacrificing our freedom, entitlements and certain standards of living for these sanctions.

You keep referring to the fact that "we" as the EU or even NATO have done nothing against possible fascist structures. This is a straw man argument, because on the one hand you write that NATO has maneuvered itself into this situation by interfering and possibly expanding into Ukraine and at the same time you denounce the little work being done against fascism in Ukraine.
And again... what do we do then with countries like Hungary, Poland, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Co....? Are we justifying the same attack scenario here? No, you say... but why then with the Ukrainians? The majority of people there are not adherents of fascism, but were victims themselves or have victims from the time of German export fascism.
"Fascists, misanthropes, dictators.... Sweep them off the streets" - But Russia does? Sorry, but you let this argument stand because you say it's the excuse for Russia. But it's not the actual accusation. This is the lie of Tsar Putin. They are not concerned with fascism. He is not interested in the liberation of any people. No. As a person interested in history, you should be aware of what Russia did in Ukraine during the Soviet era. They trampled on the language, thinking and traditions of these people, banned them and tried to erase them from the collective memory. THESE ARE THE CLEAR GOALS OF FASCISM! THESE ARE ITS VERY OWN GOALS.
What is the situation in Ukraine for you? What do you think will happen when Putin and Russia learn that you can simply take over and invade countries WITHOUT resistance, without fighting, without losses, without impact on the economy, country and people.
Do you really think Putin has enough respect for the independence of the Baltic countries such as Estonia, Finland and the like? There have also been efforts by Russia for years to bring the people of Russian origin back into the "empire". Do you really believe that Putin recognizes the limits of post-war modernity? They didn't do it with Ukraine... so who should believe these empty words of a tyrant in his own interest?
We have seen again how this guy would not hesitate to press the nuclear button... he is actively threatening everyone in Europe and the northern hemisphere.
He is the one who brings the famous knife to a fight. He's the one threatening to start a nuclear war. Yes... that we are fearful, resistant and outraged is the ONLY RIGHT reaction and certainly not throwing around comparisons or arguments that must be clearly interpreted by third parties as a commitment to such actions.

Why shouldn't we run into each other on other topics or even the same topic? After all, we are engaged in dialog and discourse. Where would we be if all people engaged with each other in this way and did not immediately proceed with war and destruction? This world would surely be a better planet. If you and I manage to stick to the basic rules (respect, acceptance and the right to freedom of speech and writing) in the face of such opposing opinions, this should set an example to state leaders, but also to ordinary people and encourage them to follow suit. With this in mind, have a nice afternoon! Until the next topic or in response to this one...
