These systems are comparatively expensive compared to other sensors. Some vehicle manufacturers have banned them from their vehicles or never installed them - for cost reasons. Other manufacturers are now starting to install them (again in some cases).
Scalability is therefore fragile and difficult to predict.

However, I cannot say what the situation will be in other areas of application.
