BYD Company Ltd.$1211 (+0%) employs 5,000 people in the development of driver assistance systems and plans to invest more than 14 billion US dollars.
The Chinese car manufacturer has now put together a team of employees to focus on the development of advanced driver assistance systems.
At an event on January 4, 2026, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu announced plans to invest over 100 billion yuan, or around 14.3 billion US dollars, in future intelligent driving technologies.
The company is developing an advanced driver assistance system with the dazzling name "God's Eye", which is equipped with twelve cameras, five millimeter-wave radars and twelve ultrasonic radars.
At the beginning of July 2025, the BYD Company presented the L4 (Level 4) function for autonomous parking of its system and assured full liability for damages in China.
By December 2025, the number of vehicles equipped with BYD's "God's Eye" system exceeded 2.5 million, forming China's largest vehicle cloud database. The driving assistance system generates over 150 million kilometers of driving data every day.
BYD relies on an "AI intelligent agent + world model" solution for development, which uses virtual scenarios to train the system to deal with rare errors.
The company also emphasized that driver assistance systems and intelligent cockpits are at the core of automotive intelligence. In the age of the Internet of Things, cars are no longer just means of transportation, but "intelligent units".
BYD now also installs functions such as drone integration and smart home control in cars.
