Frontline - Profiteer of the geopolitical situation?

$FRO (+4.02%)

In light of the increasing tensions between the US/Israel and Iran, I am considering expanding my position in Frontline. My thesis:

Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz - one of the world's most important shipping routes, through which around 20% of global oil trade flows. Further escalation could lead to disruption or even a blockade of this route.

This would have a direct impact on the tanker market:

Alternative routes are significantly longer → more tanker days

Insurance premiums and risk premiums increase

Available tanker capacity decreases → Rates shoot up

This is exactly where Frontline benefits:

One of the largest VLCC fleets worldwide

High spot market exposure = direct upside with rising rates

Attractive dividend policy as an additional buffer

Of course, this is a speculative, geopolitically driven trade - not a quiet buy-and-hold. But the asymmetry seems interesting to me: escalation = strong upside, de-escalation = rates normalize slowly.

What do you think? Does anyone have tanker exposure as a geopolitical hedge?

That's what I thought too
But the course shows something different.
I'm a little disappointed that nothing works.

It is speculation. At this point in time, it is hard to say how the situation will develop.

If the passage is blocked in the long term, the bet could pay off. If Iran gives in or the USA can effectively establish protection for the strait, the share price may also fall.

Overall, almost all shipping companies have already risen well in recent months, and $FRO is no exception.

I had this stock in my portfolio some time ago, but I am now invested in $TRMD A instead - but it is a slightly different case as they primarily operate product tankers and do not transport crude oil. ( $HAFNI is similar).

@NichtRelevant Supplement: I've just had another look at the portfolio. The share prices of the shipping companies have all looked very similar in recent weeks - regardless of whether they are tankers, containers or ferries. $TRMD A , $WAWI, $MPCC.
