The drone specialist AeroVironment surprises with a major growth spurt!

$AVAV (+4.89%)

My dears,

Last week, AeroVironment announced its figures.

I would therefore like to share a good article from Aktienmagazin with you.

I am still convinced and remain invested.

Shares in drone manufacturer AeroVironment gained momentum after the company reported mixed but overall better-than-expected results for the first quarter of 2026.

On Tuesday evening, AeroVironment announced adjusted earnings per share (adjusted EPS) of 32 cents on revenue of USD 455 million. Wall Street had expected 33 cents or USD 438 million. AeroVironment completed the acquisition of BlueHalo in May, which increased sales by 140% year-on-year and made comparisons difficult. Excluding BlueHalo, AeroVironment reported a 16% year-on-year increase in sales.

Solid financial forecasts and full order books

Quarterly earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) came in at USD 56.6 million, exceeding the USD 50 million forecast by analysts. The order book also looked solid and amounted to USD 1.1 billion at the end of the quarter, compared to USD 727 million at the end of the April quarter.

As a result of the solid figures, the annual targets were confirmed

Management maintained most of its financial guidance for fiscal year 2026. AeroVironment expects revenue of USD 1.9 billion to USD 2 billion and earnings per share (EPS) of USD 3.60 to USD 3.70. The previous forecast issued in June envisaged revenue of USD 1.9 to 2 billion and adjusted EPS of USD 2.80 to 3.00. The EBITDA forecast remained unchanged with a range of USD 300 million to USD 320 million. There was a lot to process as a result of the BlueHalo acquisition, but investors seem to be satisfied with the adjustment.

Analysts are largely positive

Assessing the stock reaction was complicated by Russian military drones that flew into Polish airspace on Tuesday evening. However, Wall Street appears to be generally satisfied with the results. The quarter is a "solid foundation for the 2026 financial year and beyond", wrote Jefferies analyst Greg Konrad in a report on Wednesday. He forecasts sales growth of 15% for the next few years. Konrad rates the shares a "buy" and gives a price target of USD 320.

Growth through new trends

Expectations were high in the run-up to the results report. By the close of trading on 09.09.2025, AeroVironment shares had risen by around 50% since the start of the year. The US Department of Defense's increased focus on unmanned systems has boosted investor sentiment.

AeroVironment plans to capitalize on this trend. "We are pleased with the continued strength in our autonomous systems and space, cyber and directed energy businesses with record revenue and backlog," CEO Wahid Nawabi said in a press release. "AeroVironment is exceptionally well positioned to meet growing demand, thanks to our innovative solutions and manufacturing capabilities that can scale quickly to meet our customers' accelerated delivery schedules."

Here is the translation of the text with some corrections to make it more fluent and precise:

AeroVironment's AV Switchblade 600 "Loitering Munition" system reaches milestone

AeroVironment has announced that its Switchblade 600 loitering munition system has reached a significant milestone: It was air-launched for the first time from an MQ-9A Reaper unmanned aerial system.

This successful integration is an important step in the further development of air-launched precision strike capabilities. It demonstrates the versatility and extended range of the MQ-9A and the operational relevance of the Switchblade 600 in complex, multi-domain environments.

The week-long flight event, conducted in partnership with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, showcased the seamless integration of the Switchblade 600 with the MQ-9A and highlighted the enhanced satellite communications capabilities for launch, guidance and target acquisition.

This milestone represents a major leap forward in networked, decentralized operations, enabling global command and control beyond line of sight. With this achievement, the Switchblade 600 continues to set the standard for scalable, expeditionary loitering munitions designed for current and future operational environments.

To be honest, I think the drones from other manufacturers are better 😅

@TechNav
AeroVironment is a little more than just a drone manufacturer.
The portfolio includes aerospace, drone defense, autonomous vehicles, software, etc.

The issue for the time being will be: which manufacturer produces the fastest, cheapest and most effective Drohnen🤷🏼‍♂️. You can see quite clearly live in Ukraine that mass rather than class can be decisive in an emergency.
