I have a really stupid question about $VLTO WI (-0.02%) ...

The share was booked into my account last year as a spin-off from Danaher.

Trade Republic shows me a buy in of 153€.

This means that the share was in fact deeply in the red right from the start. I simply left it in the portfolio, the return has made up quite a bit since then. The stock isn't doing badly either, even if there's only a small amount of money in it (I own 1.5 shares)

But can someone explain to me why the share was booked so high, even if it has never reached the value? Thank you very much!

I have a similar situation but with $SOLV WI (spin-off of 3M)
But my buy-in is €0. I have no idea how this will be handled for tax purposes if I sell them now. Do I have to pay tax on the entire sale proceeds?

@Dividenden-Sammler 0€ is just nonsense and only shows the laziness of some brokers.

With spin-offs, there are 2 variants that mathematically come to the same result:

1. capital leaves company A to found spin-off B. In other words, the capital invested in A decreases while it is transferred to B.
Example: You have 1 share of A at 100€. Spin-off B consists of 25% of A's capital and you receive a share. So you have 1x 75€ A and 1x 25€ B. Together they add up to 100€, which corresponds to your initial invested capital. The €25 is also the buy-in for the new position.

2nd value at the time of entry = tax base. This means that the entire calculation for the real buy-in only takes place at the time of sale and then calculates what is calculated directly at 1.

@Staatsmann Do you also happen to know what's going on with me? :D

@DieFinanzchaotin A good broker takes 1.
I don't understand what TR has calculated there again...
Especially with a value far above the market price.

@Staatsmann I also find it funny :D It would have been interesting to find out whether this is also the case for others.
@DieFinanzchaotin see if the cost price has dropped at Danaher? Then it might be fair again. Just check....
@DieFinanzchaotin It's the same for me!
Hi friends. I have now sold my Veralto shares at a 50% loss. Accordingly, I have received a tax refund. How can I enter this in GetQuin? Unfortunately, negative taxes for the position are not possible.
