Chocolate for the depot

Today was again savings plan day and with Hershey $HSY (-1.55%) a new share was added to the portfolio. First savings plan execution with a higher amount to open a first position.

Reasons:

  • Consumer staples and chocolate always goes
  • Hershey is continuously increasing revenues and thus profits (not common for consumer staples companies)
  • At the same time, very shareholder-friendly corporate governance (share buybacks and a nicely rising dividend)
  • Nice long-term share price performance (from bottom left to top right).
  • While Hershey is the leading chocolate maker in the U.S., there is definitely catch-up opportunity in export countries
  • The Lindt share $LISN (-1.49%) would of course be my favorite in this area, but both the high price and the (minor) problems with Swiss stocks have brought me to Hershey's

Fun Fact: Hershey chocolate is an integral part of the American military's field rations.

What is your favorite when it comes to chocolate. Both in the depot and in the shopping cart?

Mondelez
$MDLZ (-3.01%) With Milka, Hershey's
$HSY (-1.55%) or the classic: Lindt
$LISN (-1.49%)

Or something completely different?

For me: Hershey's at the depot, Lindt 85% in the shopping cart 😍

Have Mondelez and Hershey. I realized that there is no way around Hershey when I tried Reeses Peanut Buttet Cups for the first time 🤤 This candy will conquer the entire world 🚀 What I noticed is that Hershey has a much better rating (A1) than Mondelez (Baa1) at Moody's, mainly due to the debt of Mondelez. But my favorite from the sector is Ferrero, unfortunately not listed.

@Marcel92 Without being able to say it with 100% certainty, but Mondelez was once part of Kraft Foods before the merger with Heinz. In the course of that, the candy division was taken public as Mondelez. The deal was orchestrated at the time by Buffett, among others. I suspect that's why he got Mondelez out of that deal.

@Dividendenfuchs_official That's true, but unfortunately with such companies almost always so. Therefore landed by savings plan in the depot :)

@Djokovic_GOAT dude, what do you want now? You already know what a savings plan is and a long-term investment? In 10 years the stock will be higher, I care relatively little if at all where the stock is 4 months after I bought it and whether or not that was an ATH at the time. That is completely irrelevant to me. I have bought stocks at the ATH, I have bought stocks at the lowest possible point already. All in all I don't care ;)

Thanks for explaining when I make a single purchase and when I make a savings plan ;) I have a savings plan in the amount of 200€ running, as a start were invested by savings plan 800€. Is not the only share, with which this is handled by me. Of course, no one knows that, no one knows that with a Microsoft, Tesla, NVIDIA or a MSCI World. Nominally, a savings account is guaranteed to be higher in 10 years at most. But if you are not convinced that your own shares will be higher in 10 years than they are today, I wonder why you buy them at all?
