British American Tobacco - Doomed to fail?

British American Tobacco $BATS (-3.18%) is a share that can be found in many dividend portfolios.

The question: Is the company still up to date or future-proof?

Smoking rates are falling steadily and some countries are already banning smoking in public.

What do you think?

53% in 14 months with BATS for me (incl. dividend). For me, a great buy with a solid dividend. I've always smoked and until it's out of fashion or banned, I won't be alive. Therefore a must-have for me

So I'm very happy with my share (+36%), plus over 10% dividend...running...and even though there may be fewer smokers, prices are being adjusted, there is still a lot of smoking in emerging markets and the transformation to new age products is also progressing steadily.

All in all, 👍🏻 will be maintained.

... does not answer the question of the post ...

I wouldn't expect too much more from the tobacco industry, but the company still manages to generate solid shareholder value ... for me the share is a buy below € 30, a sell above € 40 ...

Restructuring has been taking place in the company for some time. (Smoke-free products)

Despite the decline in the number of smokers, BAT, like the other tobacco companies, is also investing in smoke-free products. I see this as sustainable. I recently opened a small position in BAT and will buy more using a savings plan.

A must in the portfolio. They will master the change and this is slowly being priced in, but below 40 euros it is still a buy for me. solid figures

Smoking makes you impotent. Something like that doesn't come into my depot.

@useref748d772fc84f3e It's okay, I also hold your shares and receive a 10% dividend plus a 43% price gain.

BAT is diligently paying off debts and converting its product portfolio to smoke-free products that are "healthier" (if you can call them that). I think it still has a lot of potential.
Btw. nothing generates regular customers more reliably than addiction.
