Are there any other collectors here? Collecting is often an expensive hobby. However, many things are also relatively stable in value or rise in price because they are also seen by many as a desirable alternative investment due to artificially created central scarcity. A few years ago, there was a huge hype about trading cards, mainly Pokemon cards. For me, it's more of a hobby and if they hold their price or increase in price, all the better. What do you have? Sneakers, watches, coins, even trading cards? I have ordered the new $ADS (-0.19%) dark magician. Created as a promo card for shoes from a collaboration between $9766 (+0.83%) and $ADS (-0.19%) . 😁

Retro games/consoles in OVP (N64, Snes, Sega, GameBoy, ps1+2) & Funko Pops 😅 Takes up a lot of space 😂

@Maruschka also very nice. I would also like to have the games from the 1-3rd Pokemon generations, for example. I haven't collected any games yet. But maybe I will :D

@WarrenNakamoto Mega! Have a good snapper 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

@Maruschka also goes in this direction, but not OVP but to use, plus mangas and a few figures. Generally a very expensive and space-consuming hobby
profile image
@Maruschka Is there a special site to buy something like this? I wanted to buy my old consoles or favorite games :D

Very cool :)
How much do you pay for such a card, for example?

profile image
@Kytez the Dark magician costs around 120€-150€. The Dark magician girl is around €300 in this condition, Change of heart around €150-200. Prices vary greatly depending on the card and what is available on the market. Collector's cards are valued by some people at companies and are sometimes worth 6 or even 7 figures.
profile image
@WarrenNakamoto I'm sitting on a pile so big that every dung beetle mutates into a potential assassin

profile image
@WarrenNakamoto if you can get rid of the Dark Magician Girl for 300 euros, I'll give you a share. The prices have dropped considerably, especially for non-graded cards.
profile image
profile image
@WarrenNakamoto but not if none of them is a 1st Edition, you got them in all starter decks in Holo back then😅
profile image
@JulezMontana what are you talking about? the dark magician and the god cards are promos and not available in 1st, change of heart is 1st and to my knowledge not available as holo in old starter decks only the dark magican girl is not first but mfc was never reprinted to my knowledge.

@WarrenNakamoto the potential values are one thing... The other side of the coin is that finding a buyer for such expensive cards is becoming increasingly difficult at the moment. I myself have sold around 80 mtg cards in the last year. They go for up to €50... Above 200€ the air gets thinner...
profile image
@Ronin78 That could be the case. I'm not planning to sell at the moment. There are actually good options with eBay, Cardmarket or Instagram. There's certainly a good community on Instagram for Yugioh.

Yes, the topic is interesting but I find it a bit difficult. Regarding the rating in Germany, there are still not many who send the card into the scanner and determine the value + seal and per card 25euro without knowing where I will find buyers later or what the current price is I find difficult.

I collect MtG cards. The most expensive one I sold was €285. So as long as the community is available, the value will continue to be there. It's also sometimes really blatant what collectors fork out.

@VolbeatFan I was too young for MtG. I started with Yugioh. As a child, I had a neighbor in his mid-40s who went to all the first Yugioh championships and world championships in the 2000s. He also had a huge MtG collection. Until his ex-wife burned the massive Yugioh and MtG collection. 😂😭
profile image
@WarrenNakamoto probably also because of that Ex🙃😂 Poor guy...

I also had The Winged dragon of ra as a child. I'd have to ask my parents if I still have my Yu-Gi-Oh collection 😍

@Alumdria Unfortunately, I sold all the cards from my childhood. I only have my blue-eyes White Dragon from the starter deck Kaiba that I got back then. I started collecting again in 2018. Before I started investing in the stock market at the end of 2020, all my money went into cards for almost 3 years. 😄

I collect bottle caps 😉
1

@ChrisBizz How many different ones do you already have?
profile image
@DusselDuck 3 different ones: Augustiner, Tegernseer and Kuchlbauer 😉

My 1st post wasn't entirely serious. Do you really collect bottle caps?
2
profile image
@ChrisBizz no, but I thought you did! 😂

I have a Pokémon Team Rocket 1st Edition booster. Currently worth about 250-300€
1
profile image
@Tono but I don't know if I'll ever sell it or open it myself when I'm old. Pokémon was
profile image
@Tono It would just be stupid if it ended up being crap. My own Yugioh pulls were mostly crap. That's why I almost only buy single cards. :D
1
profile image
@WarrenNakamoto I won the booster 2 or 3 years ago on a Twitch stream. Opening it myself would be more nostalgia for me. I was born in 91 and grew up with 1st Edition.
300€ is too little for me somehow I'm attached to this booster 🥹

Oh God those were such good times 🥲🥹

Collecting rather less. I have a store for Lego and Warhammer. Magic will be added soon.

Buy 100x Nike Air shoes as good as new and store them in a shipping container. Sell after 10 years for a profit.

paintball stuff ... i know it sounds strange, but old JT Proflex special editions (masks) are selling quite well, and marker refurbs too ... have made more profit with it than on the stock market

I have quite an extensive collection of Pokemon cards. I reckon it's worth around 5000€ - 10000€.

I also like to collect various Pokémon cards/coins etc.

I have $1000 worth of 2009 Pokemon cards, but the liquidity is terrible. Good luck selling this stuff. It's not like selling stocks or cryptocurrencies with two clicks.
profile image
@Kubo Since I started again in 2018, I've only bought. But I can imagine the problem with liquidity. Depending on the card, there is sometimes virtually no demand. Since I mostly have old school collector favorites and have been on Instagram with international sellers and collectors for a long time, I know that there is often demand for them. I just buy more popular individual cards.
profile image
I still have far too many YuGiOh cards here, mainly because I played actively for a while. There are so many childhood memories attached to them that even though I'm sure I'd get a really nice sum of money if I sold them, I can't part with them.
profile image
@TaxesAreTheft I regret giving away my childhood collection. You'd better keep it 👍 I was a tournament player in 2003-2007, but not that bad, I was still quite young 😄

But the problem is getting out. These cards are completely forgery-proof, meaning that as soon as reproduction is easy, the value is down.
