My second German share...

...has become Aixtron :)

I am now fully invested up to 2.5k and have cracked a big milestone!

Had the plan to do it at 35 and not at 37, but oh well ;)

Tonight I'll have a single malt (any whisky drinkers here?)...

And hopefully the spare parts for the motorcycle / Moto Guzzi will arrive (any old iron fans here?)

LG and have a successful week!

Congratulations on your milestone!
I got into whisky last year and have been a big fan ever since :)
What good stuff do you have?

@GuenDolf Redbreast 15 years :)

@Tobiwankenobi500 Nice piece :)
My favorite at the moment is an Aberlour 16 :)

@Tobiwankenobi500 What's it like? I've always wanted to try it, but in the end I only ever drink Bushmills

@Soprano thought it was very good! Although I find the 12 "sufficient" for me...

The 15 is really full, round, nicely oaky and beautifully sweet and super soft in the mouth... really cool, long and oily

12 is less oaky but also super nice and long in the mouth and just like a whisky for me!

both great - but the 12 is among my top 3 :)

@Tobiwankenobi500 Then I'll certainly get that one too. The 12er has been on my Amazon wish list for years, but I've always ended up drinking the "old acquaintances" instead of trying something new :D
1
profile image
@Soprano I know it! If I hadn't tried it at a tasting 2-3 months ago, it would certainly have remained on my wishlist forever!

Unfortunately, my cupboard is currently full and it's kind of like stocks... so many interesting things and so little money :D

Hey Tobi, I also drive an older model, and a single malt whisky 🥃 from time to time. I like Canadian whisky, it's a souvenir from my BW time in Canada. I can recommend the Crown Royal or the Canadian Club. Both are great value for money. But you can't get them everywhere. Just try the Crown Royal. All my friends have loved it so far.
Btw Congratulations on the milestone

@smougei what do you ride :) ?

@Tobiwankenobi500 I have three mopeds in the garage, a 1997 Vulcan 1500 Classic, an 88 TwinCam and a 1250 GS

Ah whisky, right up my alley! 😋There's nothing like a Glenfarclas 15 years! My absolute favorite! But I also like a Bulleit 10 year bourbon 🥃
1
profile image
@BavarianLion a man of taste! If it should be a bourbon, I think the Buffalo is still good, but I rarely drink bourbon.
1
profile image
@Tobiwankenobi500 I rarely drink bourbon either, but sometimes you need a change 😉 Although the taste of a good single malt is of course second to none! I'm just wondering whether I should treat myself to a Glenfarclas 21 or 25?
1
profile image
@BavarianLion I still have 21 - almost empty.

I've heard that the 25 year old no longer makes a big lift for the extra charge.
1
profile image
@Tobiwankenobi500 What I like so much about the 15 years is this mild taste with a hint of toffee! Is the 21 years also rather mild or does it go in a spicier direction?
1

I think the 21 is just perfect, great value for money. I'm a sherry fan and it also has a great sweetness and isn't a smoke bomb - too much smoke/crass peat stops it for me 😅

We could almost consider doing a get Quin whisky tasting somewhere in Germany haha
1
profile image
@Tobiwankenobi500 I think we have exactly the same taste 😉 I'm also a sherry fan! What I absolutely can't stand are the peaty whiskies like Talisker!
A getquin whisky tasting like that would be something! And after the 10th glass the KO certificates are tried 😂

@BavarianLion or Connemara... It really doesn't taste good to me 😅
But luckily, tastes are different and that's what makes it exciting!

If you want to try something special, I can recommend the bottlings from Signatory Vintage... The finishes from Edradour are fantastic.

If a Ducati belongs to the old iron, then yes :)

profile image
@Alpalaka Which year of construction - it depends 😉😁
profile image
@Alpalaka I'm curious about that too. I have a 797 Monster
1
profile image
@Earnus is practically new 😁
1
profile image
@Tobiwankenobi500 It's the last air-cooled bike and it already has a slight patina 😅 Which bike do you have?

I'm still eyeing up a BMW K1200S
profile image
@Earnus ne K is not my case at all - even if the engines are really great!
Looks are just one of those things...

I have a BMW R100 and a Guzzi V1000 which has been completely restored and rebuilt.

@Tobiwankenobi500 okay then I'm out :D
@Earnus 998, bought a few years ago for 6.5 and not ridden 500km since. It stands around and gains value, that's all it does :D

Edit: It's actually the one with the carbon exhaust. However, with 50,000km https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/ducati-998-sammlerzustand/3089604390-305-9049

@Alpalaka Respect. You've really scored a good bargain with the potential to increase in value.

Glendronach Revival 15 🤤.
I still have a sealed bottle, but don't want to open it. You won't find it anymore😬
profile image
@Maverick4831 I can do it for you - whisky is for drinking 😁
profile image
@Tobiwankenobi500 currently 8 opened and 10 sealed bottles😉. They remain closed (for the time being)
What were your reasons for buying Aixtron?
I myself am down about 35% on the share. I was very convinced of the company a few months ago. Now I'm not so sure anymore.

$SHL, $SIE, $PAH3 - aren't they from Germany? :)
profile image
@slava_ukraine Porsche and the second, the rest doesn't count ;)
profile image
@Tobiwankenobi500 well, $SIE has 16% YTD - that's among the top 10 in your portfolio!
profile image
@slava_ukraine but these are not savings plans or purchases but a bonus from the former employer, i.e. I don't count them and I wouldn't have "bought extra" in this way either
profile image
@Tobiwankenobi500 I see... Personally have 100% EU stocks, they are currently doing ~100% YTD :) e.g.
https://getqu.in/LUeWyR/
If you feel like continuing to buy German stocks :)
profile image
@slava_ukraine ne is far too armor-heavy for me
profile image
@Tobiwankenobi500 $RTX does the same.
profile image
@slava_ukraine I'm just not in the mood for the Ukraina warlord depot 😅

I buy a little bit of everything to be diversified. Putting my entire portfolio into armor - never.
profile image
I have big expectation on German and polish markets. But cannot yet put a finger what to by. Limiting factor, I build portfolio with dividends
