This month the savings rate is a little "lower" because a NYC trip was booked. Previously, this would have made me more stomach ache to spend so much money on a trip and I really wanted to invest every penny. Now I'm looking to fill the "life return" with as many experiences as possible, since now is the time when you are most vital and can make a lot out of your money and travel. If that means reducing the output, I'm willing to do it 🗽.

The right attitude. You have to find a balance between living your life and providing for your old age.

If nevertheless a besparen of over 1k is possible it is nevertheless top I invest at present approx. 600€/ month and put 150€/ month aside for vacations (for 3 persons and my wife puts also for vacations again something aside) I know that we are so far privileged around at all to invest to be able and in the irrelevant can

@hias1993 super thing! Finds mega that you also focus with Family the topic of investing! 💪🏼
@TaubeSmash my child is still small so I want to spend a lot of time with him so I don't work more to be able to invest more but I invest to be able to have more time for grandchildren later and also to be able to support children/grandchildren better than my parents and parents-in-law can do. Whereas both my parents and my parents-in-law (with other points) and support when it is necessary.

You only live once. The money is nice for old age, yet you can't take it to the grave!

There was, is and will never be a better investment than travel.

We were in NYC for the second time this year. You just can't miss it. Except for the Canada fire, it was great again.#selfinvest Have fun.

@Zony Hey Robert! Mega that you are already there for the second time! Do you have any suggestions / tips for the first stay?
profile image
@TaubeSmash How long have you been there? -OMNY (Metro Unlimted, includes metro and bus, https://omny.info/) -New York Pass (we paid for 5 days 255, - and were for about 450, - attractions look) Make a thought about what you want to see. We marked some things on a map. This makes it technically easier to find routes. Planless in NY is exhausting 😅 On YT I can recommend Loving travel DE and Aramis Merlin. Paying with KK is absolutely easy and especially when driving with Metro and bus totally unproblematic. Especially cheap. Per trip 2,75$. From the 13 ride (OMNY Mon-Sun, Metro Unlimted 7 days from the first ride) free.

@Zony thanks for the tips,'s directly today times against calculated with the New York Pass! We stay a total of 7 days, which is probably the absolute minimum. Unfortunately, the vacation in Switzerland is very limited 😄

Why did you choose a MSCI World etf that has a TER of 0.5?
profile image
@MP03 To be honest, it was out of inexperience at the time. Had also somehow more confidence in the product because market leadership. Would probably do it differently today but find up to 0.3% TER difference just acceptable as a difference.
profile image
@TaubeSmash but why not just leave it and save another one? Yes, this is often criticized here in the community. But it is a good way to "outsmart" FIFO. 0.3% over... 20 years is already a bit of wood.

@TaubeSmash Then I would possibly look for the 3 day pass. Depending on what you want to see, it's worth it. In June, for example, Summit was not yet included, but The Edge was. There is another provider, where you specify the amount of attractions you want to see. There you are also a little more flexible with the visit. You can then virtually do as time is. With the normal 1-10 day pass, it is active as soon as the first attraction is booked and then runs through accordingly. We were there for 10 days. Take a look at Schippers. There are good burgers. Levain Bakery is also very good. Times Square in the Hurshey Store. The burger in the Hardrock Café is also good. If it fits in time, pizza in Little Italy (Bronx). ....usw 😅

The experience dividend is the best there is. My wife and I only go on luxury vacations, and we're happy to pay for it. Even knowing that we live rather frugally at home, and accordingly have four-digit savings rates every month ... we do not let us take the fun out of life.
