Experience Santander Bank

Good afternoon everyone, I have decided that I want to close my account with my current bank (VR Bank) and switch to a cheaper alternative.

I don't want to pay any more current account fees (currently €4.5/month) and I need a credit card because of my work. As I'm a bit old-fashioned, I'd also like to be able to go directly to a branch in case of urgent problems.

Apparently Santander Bank offers $SAN (+0.52%) offers everything I need, a free current account (the 1/2/3 account even comes with a bonus), a free or, if required, premium credit card and branches in all major cities.

Now to my question, is anyone here with Santander and if so, what are your experiences? Do you have any other banks that match what I'm looking for?

Thank you very much and have a nice evening everyone 🍻

I would rate Santander Bank with a 2.

So you're not doing anything wrong there.
I've been there for 5 years.

I can only recommend Ing from my point of view.
Although it is now an online bank, I have never had any problems reaching the service when I needed it, both in private banking and with BauFi, the service is really great!

@Kapital_Koala Would also be my favorite if they offered a credit card :/

@GuenDolf I only use the Ing credit card in my everyday life, it's enough for filling up, shopping etc., for traveling I got the free Advanzia card. 🙃

@Twizzi Unfortunately, ING does not offer credit cards, only debit cards :/

Why do you need a credit card directly through the bank?
Why don't you just get a Miles and More or amex?

@Twizzi In principle, I don't need it directly via the bank, I would have just done it that way for the sake of simplicity. I'll have a look in that direction too, thank you 😊

Get the free Barclay Card, it's a "real" credit card, even abroad. I've had it for 15 years and I can only recommend it.

@Eurosammler Cool thing, I'll take a look! Thank you. Where do you have your current account?

@GuenDolf Private account with DKB, also very good and free of charge, real-time transfers will also be possible from October. My business account is with Fyrst (Postbank), everything up to 20 transfers is also free.
