Almonty Industries Breaks China's Dominance in a Key Raw Material for the Semiconductor Industry

$AII (+3.24%)

I just opened a position in it.

My friends, what do you think of Almonty?

Without the heat-resistant metal tungsten, Western high-tech production faces a strategic bottleneck. Almonty Industries is now rapidly building an independent supply chain for North America and Europe. Global systemic competition is forcing Western high-tech players to radically decouple from China.

You should already know my take on this—I added the first 50 shares to my portfolio on Thursday at 9.05 and another 51 on Friday at 9.90.

If the current ramp-up of the mine in South Korea and the expansion planned for 2027 proceed reasonably smoothly, we could be looking at a revaluation here in the long term.

In line with this, the recent extension of a long-term contract has simultaneously increased both the annual purchase volumes and the margin by 6.33%.

Conversely, this means that this contract alone will generate a steady $500 million in annual revenue, and thus the transition to profitability should be completed by 2026.

In addition, as I mentioned in my post on Thursday, there’s still some other news to report.

I’ve had this on my watchlist for quite some time, and as I said, the raw material is absolutely essential—that’s another ace up their sleeve—but on the flip side, it still carries plenty of risks.

Maybe not for the faint of heart, but with the prospect of more to come...

@SAUgut777 And what's your take on convertible bonds? They've really pushed the price down for now. Let's see if the market is already bottoming out. I don't usually buy into a downtrend,

@Tenbagger2024 As far as the bond is concerned, we now have enough cash to cover further financing, and the bottom line is that we’re on the verge of turning a profit.

There are plenty of customers waiting in the wings, but the ramp-up needs to go relatively smoothly now.

Let’s see if we can glean more from the next quarterly figures on August 18.

I definitely find that exciting, too. But I think—or rather, I hope—that they'll pull back a little more after last year's strong run. $10 or even $8 would be great.

@jkb92 I think I'll buy some more then. But I just wanted to get my foot in the door for now.

@jkb92 I think the latest dip was actually just due to all the back-and-forth about delisting in Australia and Canada, and that the stock price may also have been pushed down somewhat artificially by its inclusion on the Nasdaq and Russell indices.

@SAUgut777 As you may know, in addition to my fundamental analysis, I also look at things from a technical analysis perspective. And from that perspective, a further extension of the correction cannot be ruled out.

@jkb92 It's very possible. Because a clear reversal in the trend isn't yet apparent. Investors who want to play it safe should wait for that to happen.

@jkb92 I don't want to deny that either, but after the bond issue, the listing or delisting, and South Korea, it has so far bounced cleanly off 9, and if a "bottom" forms here and the outlook in the quarterly figures looks good, things could swing in the opposite direction very quickly...

...as I said, I’ve got a foot in the door, and if it drops again in the short term, I’ll definitely be adding to my position here.

@jkb92 And earlier this year, they were selling for 7–8 euros... Unfortunately, I missed out on them.

If earnings turn out to be better than expected, the stock will rise quickly. That’s my assessment. I’ve already built up a small position. From a technical perspective, it’s currently reacting to a minor breakout level from the beginning of the year. Volume is also in line with this.
Although the RSI and MACD indicators don’t yet show a turnaround in buyer/seller behavior, I see a solid chance that this will shift in the coming days.

The story sounds promising, and the outlook looks good, too. Still, I’m not very good at evaluating resource companies like this. Could you briefly explain again what Almonty’s specific strengths are? And what do you think about the long-term outlook? Is there a long-term perspective there, or are they heavily reliant on individual mines that could eventually be depleted?

@PikaPika0105 Hi there, @SAUgut777 has already posted quite a bit about this over the last few days.

@PikaPika0105 Just a quick note: The lifespan of the last new mine in South Korea—which is now in operation—is approximately 45 years, and it’s one of the largest and most intensively mined deposits in the Western world. It was actually in the works at one point, but the project was shelved due to commodity prices and the fact that the company’s presence in the region wasn’t significant at the time.
