1. Renault sales slump by almost 30 percent

French automaker Renault's sales fell dramatically in the first half of the year as a result of its withdrawal from Russia. According to Tuesday's Renault report, global sales fell 29.7% to just over one million vehicles.

Excluding the Russian company, sales were down 13%, it said. The market climate continues to be characterized by a shortage of semiconductors, it said. The stock price fell as much as 2.4% by midday due to the disappointing stock market environment.

2nd Walmart buys 45% of Canoo's delivery trucks.

Shares of electric car maker Canoo rise after Walmart agreed to buy 4,500 electric delivery trucks. Walmart will buy at least 4,500 and up to 10,000 of Canoo's electric delivery trucks. The delivery trucks are expected to be in service by 2023. Canoo's shares rose more than 70% after the news.

3. Gap CEO Sonia Syngal resigns with immediate effect

Sonia Syngal, CEO and president of Gap, is stepping down effective immediately, the apparel company announced Monday. The retailer also named a new chief executive for its Old Navy business. Gap added that higher promotional activity had a negative impact on gross margin; it now forecasts an adjusted operating margin percentage in the second quarter of zero to slightly negative.

1. Boris Johnson resigns

The leader of the Tory Party, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has announced his resignation. Johnson said in London that the Conservative party's yearning for a new leader was obvious. But he said he wanted to remain in office until a successor was chosen, calling it a difficult decision to leave "the best job in the world." Normally, the offices of party leader and head of state are held jointly.

Johnson thanked everyone who voted for the Conservative Party in the 2019 House of Commons elections. He explained that he had fought "so hard" recently because he wanted to continue the commitment.

2. Binance penetrates European market

3rd GameStop split to drive share price

Pre-market trading is sharply higher for GameStop stock on Thursday. On the NYSE, the stock is up nearly 5.6 percent at $124.18. On Wednesday, official trading had closed at $117.43. The stock price increase was triggered by the board-approved 1-for-4 stock split.

For every A share of the company held by shareholders at the U.S. market close on July 18, three additional shares will be issued, the video game retailer said. After the U.S. stock market closes on July 21, the shares will be posted and begin trading on a split-adjusted basis the next day.
