Proposed solution: Only positions such as Minister of Economic Affairs or similar may be filled by people who have completed an educational path in this direction. In addition, all persons who can be proven to be lobbyists would have to be removed from office immediately.

@NoobHDTV It can't be that simple 🫢

@NoobHDTV Lobbying is important and any politician who consults with those affected before making changes to legislation in order to understand the exact impact of the laws is doing exactly the right thing. Of course there are negative examples and also corruption under the guise of lobbying, but I think it is much more dangerous when politicians have no contact with lobbyists and simply decide something without being able to assess the effects.

Those affected by legislative changes will always testify in their own favor and, if necessary, threaten politicians with job cuts. I don't know of any cases of positive lobbying. The point you raise can also be taken up by scientific policy advisors from the respective areas in order to deal with the consequences.

@NoobHDTV But... You have to distinguish between experts and politicians. Experts are good at what they do, they would rather assert their own skills than see the bigger picture. Politicians should love their people first and foremost. And secondly, they should make good decisions. Decisions that their advisors put before them. But still, good ones please... Bad ones rather not ;-).

@NoobHDTV I have a similar view. On the subject of lobbying and its negative excesses, there is an interesting documentary by Frontal on the Big Four economic consultants/auditors EY, Deloitte, KPMG and PWC. Among other things, it talks about the above-mentioned companies "advising" ministries on the drafting of (tax) laws. I question the extent to which this can be objective, just as I question the report.

@PalmPirateTechnocrate I have a different opinion. In my opinion, you should already have basic knowledge in the area you are working in. Without experience in the field, you can't really tell what is a good decision and what is a bad decision.

@NoobHDTV I would also welcome it if there were fewer professional politicians among those in power. Helmut Schmidt once said that only if politicians could return to their old profession if necessary would their independence be guaranteed.

People who have been running around the world with a party membership card since their youth and have hardly learned anything else live in a bubble from which they 1) do not know the reality of the broad masses and 2) cannot escape party thinking because they are bound to it for better or worse if they want to continue earning their living.
