Depotrückblick October 2023 - Three red months in a row, October again with losses in the depot - But November with a strong start
After August and September had already spoiled my positive stock market year 2023, October is now the third consecutive month of losses. With -2,0% the month was less negative than September with -2.7%, but the month nevertheless ended with price losses of almost €5,000.
In the current year, my performance is therefore only +12,2%which is exactly in line with my benchmark (MSCI World +12.2%).
The biggest losers in October were again NVIDIA $NVDA and Sartorius $SRT with ~800 and ~900€ in price losses respectively.
On the winners' side in October, especially Bitcoin $BTC and Microsoft $MSFT and Lockheed Martin $LMT
In total, I bought in October for ~4.700€ in total. Of this, ~€2,100 came from the premium refund from my private health insurance, which I invested in the WisdomTree Global Dividend Growth $GGRP invested. I have also written a separate post about this.
In total, my portfolio is therefore again slightly below the previous month at ~222.000€. This corresponds to an absolute increase of ~€44,000 in the current year 2023. ~20.000€ of this comes from price gains, ~2.000€ from dividends / interest and ~22.000€ from additional investments.
This still leaves a shortfall of almost €27,000 in price gains to make up for the ~€46,000 price losses from 2022.
Dividend:
- The dividends in October were +22% above the previous year at just under €100
- In the current year, dividends after 10 months are +23% over the first 9 months of 2022 at ~1.900€. In addition there was ~€150 in interest
- In total, my dividends are therefore already above the entire previous year after 10 months - and November and December will give me another ~450€ again
-> My dividend income will therefore be around a quarter higher than in the previous year
Buying & selling:
- I bought in October for approx. 4.700€
- I mainly executed my savings plans:
- Blue chipsNovo Nordisk $NOVO B Apple $AAPL LVMH $MC Home Depot $HD Microsoft $MSFT Nike $NKE Starbucks $SBUX Stryker $SYK Texas Instruments $TXN

- CryptoBitcoin $BTC and Ethereum $ETH
- Sales there were none in October
Even though October was another bad month, the first 3 trading days in November were all the better! In total, my portfolio has already made price gains of ~7.000€ and thus easily overcompensated for the losses from October. My portfolio currently stands at ~230.000€
I am curious to see whether the first few days of November signal the start of a year-end rally. Let's hope for the best!
With further deposits in November and December and a year-end rally of ~5%, it could be enough for me to break the €250,000 mark and thus the quarter of a million by the end of the year. So it remains exciting!
What do you expect for the remaining two months of 2023? Year-end rally or year-end frustration?
