Has anyone here ever applied for the withholding tax refund from Denmark? I have applied for this in mid - late April but have not received anything back yet. No notification that an application has been received, no money, nothing. Does anyone have any experience? On google someone had written, he had only waited 4 weeks but much can not be found.

By the way, I needed a notice of tax residency in DE from the tax office and then they told me that I am now subject to income tax return because I own shares ... After 20 minutes on the phone with someone who was unfortunately not very competent, nothing has changed. Do I care then next year again drum that I am taken out of the duty hopefully again, for this year I do eh a..

With my Maersk shares, it really didn't take long. Maybe 6 weeks. But I always submitted the refund in the following year. I don't know how the tax office works, but I can imagine that they don't take care of the refunds until the next year, so to speak. The tax return is usually done at the end of the year. As for your problem with the tax office, you can solve it next year with a non-assessment certificate beforehand. I always do that for the kids so that they don't have to do a tax return, but as far as I know you have to actively apply for that.

I received a dividend distribution in March this year. I received the proof of tax residency from the tax office relatively quickly. However, the refund has not yet arrived. I have also not received a confirmation e-mail or similar....

Received a letter today apologizing for the waiting time and explaining that the refund can take up to 18 months due to a suspected fraud that was found in Denmark, related to the dividend tax refund. From 6 months processing time there is interest as compensation.

Let's see if and when I also receive a letter. 6 months are reached with me at the end of the month
From when is it worthwhile to apply for a refund? According to mydividends24 a refund of 31€ would be possible.

Sorry that I'm just answering now. I would say that depends on you. For me, the double came around and I wanted to try it out how that works so I just did it. It is a bit of time effort but not much (so with me) what is only annoying that I was then required by the tax office to the tax return.
