The idea was really good and who knows if it wasn't even the right idea.

But the decision seems to be the right one, if it was a gamble and the company's news doesn't go along with your own ideas, then better get out of it and look for a good consolation 👀

There are good and bad losses. If losses arise from a strategy that is consistent and good overall, then so are the losses. You can't always win. And you don't have to. It is enough to win more often and more than you lose.
