SpaceX yesterday launched the first six Starlink satellites which will be used for cellular transmissions for customers of T-Mobile ($TMUS (+0.96%) ) and other providers.
These satellites are known as "cellphone towers in space" and will enable mobile operators worldwide to provide seamless access to SMS, calls and surfing without the need to change hardware or firmware.
The improved Starlink satellites have an advanced modem that acts as a cell phone tower in space and eliminates dead zones, similar to a standard roaming partner.
