The UK energy regulator Ofgem has approved a major contract for a $2.5 billion submarine cable project linking north-east Scotland with north-east England. This "Eastern Green Link 2" project, a 525 kV link with a capacity of 2 GW, will transport renewable energy and reduce bottlenecks in the grid. Scheduled for completion in 2029, it supports the UK's ambition to modernize its energy infrastructure for a carbon-free future.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with $IBE (+1.2%) among others.
Personal opinion:
Such investments are important for a modern future and secure energy supply. The transportation of renewable energies in particular often fails, which can be increasingly improved by such measures.
