In keeping with the new Trade Republic debit card, I'll give you some more information about it here and give you some more tips on how you can save tons of money. It's best to save this post.

  • Trade Republic card information
  • Shopback (up to 60% cashback)
  • Plutus card
  • Crypto.com card

1st Trade Republic card info

https://ref.trade.re/kfw0kt11

As of today, you can join the waiting list for the Trade Republic debit card. Your place on the waiting list will be visible in the app shortly. By the way, you can get the metal card for free today in Berlin at the Trade Republic Demo. There will also be merch and exciting talks.

The card is available in 3 versions:

  • Virtual card 0€
  • Classic card 5€
  • Mirror card (metal card) 50€

These costs are one-off. All three have the same functions. There are no monthly costs.

Fees1€ per withdrawal at ATMs with less than 100€

Type of card: It is a Visa debit card

Advantages:

  • Saveback
  • Round up

What is Saveback?

Every time you spend money with the card, you get saveback of 1%, which is invested in a savings plan of your choice. I think that's a pretty cool thing. However, you can only receive 15€ saveback per month and you must have activated a savings plan of 50€ per month. This can be done weekly, twice a month or even once a month.

Example: You buy €100 at Edeka with the card, then you get €1, which is invested in your selected savings plan.

What is Round up?

You can round up odd amounts in your expenses. You then automatically invest the rounded up amount. It is always rounded up to the nearest euro. For example, if you spend €2, it will be rounded up to €3, so €1 will be invested.

You have the option of activating a multiplier (2x, 3x, 5x or times 10x)

2. shopback

https://app.shopback.com/hsZSroU1dGb

Shopback is an app with which you can get cashback from a number of websites. It's super quick and easy. All you have to do is click on the store in the app where you want to order, order the goods and you will receive cashback. You can then have the cashback paid out to PayPal, for example.

Examples
Cashback:

  • Currently 60% cashback at Temu for new customers and 35% cashback for existing customers
  • 2% cashback on Amazon gift cards
  • 7% cashback on Otto gift cards
  • 12% cashback at About You
  • 3% cashback Hello
  • 4% cashback
  • 10% cashback Nike

The list of cashback offers is seemingly endless.

3rd Plutus card https://dex.plutus.it/auth/referee/signup?refId=oMKllD

Like the Trade Republic card, the Plutus card is also a Visa debit card. Here you get on at least 3% cashback on all spending in the form of the company's own cryptocurrency. This can normally be exchanged for €. However, this is currently being maintained or improved. The card with 3% cashback is free. You also receive €10 cashback per month on a subscription of your choice. (e.g. Netflix, Disney+, Edeka and much more)

So you get Netflix almost for free.

The card is available virtually and digitally. You can even increase the cashback by staking the currency or through subscriptions and also get €10 cashback per month for other offers.

Plutus:

In my opinion, this is the biggest advantage. In the future, you'll even get cashback on direct debits, which means you'll even get cashback on your rent, tuition fees and more!

3. crypto.com card

I'll briefly summarize the Crypto.com card here.

There was a recent update at Crypto.com. It is now possible to get significantly more cashback even with the cheaper cards through tasks. Cashback is possible from 1% to 8% on all expenses. Even with the second-worst card, up to 4% cashback is possible. For this you have to use the cryptocurrency $CRO (-4.11%) worth €350 for 180 days. CRO is currently at around 10% of its all-time high. So if CRO reaches its all-time high again, you would already have €3500 worth of CRO and could use it to directly unlock a better card. With this card you will then receive 2 to 5% cashback on all expenses and access to airport lounges (Priority Pass). What many people don't know is that even if you no longer have the CROs, you still have access to the airport lounges!

I like the card, it bothers me that only the card debits the TR account, if it debited my other current account I would get it. I would like to use my parked money or the cash I have at TR only for investments. If my purchases were also included, I would lose track.

Let me ask you who is thinking of getting the card? If so, which one do you think the metal card is quite chic purely in terms of function, it only has optical added value

1% with a max of 15€ per month is nothing really. Are they making fun of us?

I would be interested to know whether I have the same range of functions at Deutsche Bank ATMs (e.g. depositing money) as I have an account with Deutsche Bank through Trade Republic.

Since Visa is the partner, this will probably be possible at a number of ATMs and perhaps even in stores anyway

Is there any news about possible uses abroad?

stupid question: I guess there is no 1% cashback on cash withdrawals in the form of a savings plan, is there? Otherwise it would be a perpetuum mobile. There should be no costs when withdrawing money (but I haven't looked into this in detail yet).

With Plutus, please bear in mind that there have unfortunately been some changes there and you now also have to stake a lot in the form of PLUs. The cashback on sales and e.g. Spotify is no longer available for free users.

You have to be aware of this and think carefully about whether you want to put relevant amounts into a coin like PLU (I don't)

I have the assumption that it will not be possible to register them with apple pay/google pay, because then a 2nd card is needed? I'm a bit overwhelmed
