Snowflake $SNOW (+2.83%) recently announced the acquisition of Night Shift Development, a company specializing in data analytics for the US public sector. The purchase price was not disclosed. The acquisition is intended to help Snowflake expand its presence in the government sector and help decision-makers in various agencies use data more effectively.

Night Shift Development was founded by Tim Tutt (CEO) and Drew Hayes (COO), both of whom have extensive experience in data analysis and systems engineering. Their focus was strongly on working with US security agencies. Following the acquisition, Snowflake will establish a dedicated public sector unit to strengthen its collaboration with government organizations. Tim Tutt will remain part of the company and will now serve as Vice President of National Security at Snowflake.

This acquisition aligns with Snowflake's strategy to promote the use of data and artificial intelligence in government organizations and provide more secure and efficient data solutions. Both companies share the goal of making data analytics more democratic and expanding access to powerful data platforms.

Isn't the trend moving away from the cloud and towards edge computing anyway?
Government institutions and companies in particular now have a problem with outsourcing highly sensitive data to the cloud and entrusting it to external companies.
This is why edge computing will return.
You should be well positioned here

@Tenbagger2024 I actually think you don't know much about it, because the whole text makes little sense, especially with Snowflake. Edge computing and cloud computing are not competing products but are more or less dependent on what you want or need and are not that different. Edge computing is basically just faster and simpler data processing where you send a few data sets back and forth close to the hardware in order to work in real time. You don't need this everywhere and it doesn't work everywhere. The fact that edge computing has become more popular again in recent years is due to the fact that it is cheaper in some applications and IoT is only now being attempted in larger quantities. The automation of things such as autonomous cars must communicate from their own computers to edge. Snowflake hardly operates its own computers, so it would be less interesting here. They simply work on the cloud of others

Yes, well, I'm beginning to realize that you're a smart aleck. But you can get it across in a different way.

@Tenbagger2024 I'm just too stupid to write properly I think that's more to do with it. I don't want to be the know-it-all and really improve anything. I'm just looking to communicate on the topics that interest me and add my two cents. My description sums it up well

$SNOW is often compared to Palantir $PLTR, although they have a different business model. Don't ask me why. I think this move is going in the direction of gov military? With the trillion market, $SNOW could compensate its employees well for the small-medium contracts *laughs
The analysts were worried about further revenue growth anyway. But wayne :D
