Philip Morris International $PM (+2.66%) has made a $16 billion bid to buy rival Swedish Match $SWMA , who are primarily known for producing smoke-free โsnusโ. $SWMA shares are at a 32% premium since talks were announced. This product is currently not authorised for sale in the EU, except Sweden, but this move is part of PMIโs push to diversify beyond tobacco-based products.

3. Brazil inflation at highest level in 26 years
Despite already high expectations of 12.07%, prices increased by 12.13% in the 12 months through April in Brazil.
