#pokemonInvestment

I bought 2 new assets last week (Pokemon booster and a card)

The booster is from 1999 and the card is from 2006.

The trick with such investments is to eventually find someone even more stupid who will buy the unproductive stuff from you at an even higher price.
Good luck with that! 🚀

@Epi In principle, you're right.
But the market for these cards is definitely lucrative😅

@Epi well anyway i think it's a piece of childhood history at the same time everyone has their opinion why sell it directly i got it for a good price but sell it directly why make enough money is unhappy should my child have it later

@user9d340127f9674959 Sure. Buying a pretty gold coin is hardly any different. But people have known gold longer than Pokemon and will certainly still value it when nobody knows Pokemon anymore.
But I can tell you one thing: the glitter fake Pokemon cards for €10 per 100 are more fun for the kids. 😅

@Epi Well, that's basically how the entire art market works.

@Goldpasslord The only difference is that everyone knows the Mona Lisa, but only nerds know the Glumander.

@hero333 Some never realize it. It's not worth discussing...unfortunately. In any case, I've given up 🫣

@Epi They underestimate the Pokemon brand a little. PSA cards are not for children.

I have a lot of Pokémon cards myself, especially very valuable ones. I have also sent them all in to PSA. They are all between PSA 9 and 10

If I look at the card in the picture, it's a 5, so you've definitely not created a valuable investment.

The next point is that the card is in German. My collections are all in English and Japanese. German cards will only reach the value.

Let's take the new set 151. I drew Charizard 199 twice in English. Both sent to PSA and one got a 9 and one got a 10. I sold the 9 for 175€ and the 10 is now in my collection. This card is worth over 400€.

Nevertheless, you always need hype to increase the value. This is triggered by the YouTube bubble or a set like 151. The values will now fall again for the time being, as the 151 hype is slowly dying down.

So this is simply a hobby and not an investment. My collection is worth 5 figures, but nobody would pay me the money for it now. So the value is only ever what someone else is prepared to pay. Just like on the stock market.

And whether someone will buy a PSA 5 card is questionable.

I myself collect items in the five-digit range and the value development is simply extremely good

I also have plenty in my own bed box. 👌🏻
Not just an investment in the long term, but more importantly, it's a little piece of childhood that you keep 😉

My brother-in-law has actually registered a business in Austria for trading in such cards. It actually works.

I'm actually in the process of buying the complete Lord of the Rings magic the gathering set. I'm still missing 5 cards. Then I'll put the folder to one side and not think about it for the next 20 years. But I don't really see it as an investment, more as fun collecting.
@shzzL invest already has a good performance old collectible and vintage cards
Isn't the most expensive card in the game from the Lord of the Rings set?

Thinking about doing the same with the Fallout set ... quickly as long as it is still halfway available

@Haraldbali Yes, but it's not part of the normal card list. It's number 1 of 1 and of course I'm not going to buy it from Post Malone for 2 million 😂 the most expensive in the normal set is a Gandalf for 1700€.
