Tough lesson you paid there. Luckily there are people like you who share their story and their loss. That's why I have my cryptocurrencies on a hardware wallet (Bitbox02). Sure, you have to learn the technology a bit, but it's worth the effort.

@TheDividendCollector A hardware wallet does not consume any significant power. It is basically used to generate and store your private key in a safe place. You plug it into your laptop like a USB stick, make a few entries, send your coins and you're done. After that, you can store the wallet for years in a place of your choice without power supply.
@TheDividendCollector exactly, whether the bitbox now in the 10 min draws more current than eg the Ledger I do not know, but I personally do not care.
