attachment

Mutares signs an agreement to acquire VR Road Logistics from VR Group and thus announces its sixteenth acquisition in 2024.

VR Road Logistics: A strong player in the logistics industry

VR Road Logistics, a leading Finnish road logistics company, specializes in full truckload, circular economy, supply chain logistics and warehousing services. With a turnover of around EUR 80 million in 2023 and a customer portfolio that includes blue-chip companies in the forestry, metals, construction and mining sectors, the company has a strong market position. The long-standing partnerships with major customers underline the stability and potential of VR Road Logistics as a valuable addition to the Mutares portfolio.

Johannes Laumann, CIO of Mutares, emphasizes the importance of the acquisition: "This transaction marks another milestone for Mutares in Finland and strengthens our presence in the Nordic region. After the success with Palmia and Redo, we see great potential in VR Road Logistics. Our expertise in the logistics sector, as the example of Frigoscandia shows, will be further strengthened by this acquisition."

The acquisition of VR Road Logistics will enable Mutares to expand its activities in the logistics sector and consolidate its market position in the Nordic region in the long term. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2024, subject to approval by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority.

I don't know whether I should see this as a good thing or not, because 16 takeovers in one year is already a lot and many of the portfolio companies are not necessarily saloon-capable.

@topicswithhead The aim of the whole thing is to create added value through strategic investments, realignments/restructuring of the companies with successful exits if necessary. It should be self-explanatory that not every acquired company is a 6 in the lottery.

But the past has shown that they are not entirely unsuccessful in this area and the battered automotive sector will also get back on track.

It will be interesting to see if we hear anything positive on 25.11.
