Advice from a tax official personally: file retrospectively for the last 3 years and get the money back before it expires.

Of course, you declare everything you have received and hand in your TR documents.

@Bart_S problem: I received sick pay in 2021 and would therefore have been obliged to submit it. I was not notified at the time. According to the taxman, I now have to pay a 500 euro penalty because I'm only submitting it now. Will the penalty be enforced?

So if you have not been written to, then the processor should be able to suspend the penalty, which is how it is done at our office.

Also, never trust a taxman 😉

@Bart_S then I hope for a nice official...I was definitely not contacted back then. Thanks for the info. I think that's very kind of you, as I've really been thinking about it. I am totally preoccupied and burdened by the subject. I have handed in all 4 years and am now hoping for the best.

Keep your fingers crossed that the other offices in Germany are as nice as we are 🤗

@Bart_S That would be really great. I haven't done a tax return for 17 years. To be honest, I didn't even know that I had to do one with sick pay. Now they've written to me for the first time and it came out that I should have done one a long time ago. We'll see what happens now.
