Good morning. What does the tax office want from you? Are you obliged to file a tax return?
If the taxes have already been paid, as far as I know you no longer have to declare them. Unless you have foreign investment income that your broker does not pay or, for example, in the case of a favorable tax assessment...
Have you divided up the saver's lump sum properly? Some people make a mistake here and the tax office runs after them. Lg

@Trille85 I'm not actually obliged - I've never done one. What the tax office doesn't like now and why I now have to submit one: I was on sick pay for one day in 2023 and the lady said that obliges me + I didn't keep an eye on my VL savings and am therefore 45 euros over the 1,000 euro allowance and, according to the lady at the tax office, that also obliges me to submit a tax return.

@DividendenMieze As far as I know, these replacement benefits must be over €410 for the tax return to be mandatory. As a rule, however, the tax office always requires a tax return for wage replacement benefits such as sick pay, unemployment benefit, parental allowance, etc... the whole thing is called progression proviso. You can google it...

The situation is different with your tax-free allowance. If something doesn't fit, they'll let you do one straight away.

In the end, however, I can assure you that you will have to submit a tax return if the tax office has opened a case - there's usually no way around it 😃
