The CEO of BMW
$BMW (-1%) is calling for Europe 🇪🇺 to lift the planned ban on combustion engines in order to reduce its dependence on China 🇨🇳.

"Europe should abandon its plan to ban the sale of new fossil fuel cars from 2035.

This could reduce dependence on China's battery supply chain and make better use of the continent's technological strengths."

The CEO of BMW also says that in a few years, H2 cars will be the hot shit that everyone wants and provides adventurous justifications for their need😂
I wouldn't put much stock in Zipse and his talk.

Thanks for sharing this! As a strong supporter of accelerating the transition to electric vehicles, I believe that embracing innovation is key. While BMW's concerns about over-reliance on China for battery production are understandable, it's crucial that European manufacturers invest in their own innovative solutions. This will not only ensure competitiveness but also support a sustainable and independent automotive industry in Europe.

Why not simply set up your own battery production instead of outsourcing everything to China? 😉

Instead of being dependent on batteries from China, you make yourself dependent on oil from the Saudis & Co. 🙄

Well, the combustion engine was never on the brink of extinction, only fossil fuels and these plans are sometimes too ambitious. In this respect, Zipse is absolutely right and he and the BMW Board of Management have so far been clever enough to deliver everything that the market demands, which is why BMW is in a much better position than all other major commercial German vehicle brands.

So I can certainly see that the basis of the combustion engine will continue to exist.

The combustion engine has not yet reached its technical limits. Cars should become smaller and lighter. Who needs these big boxes? The infrastructure for e-cars is lacking in many places.

If you only knew what Zipse says internally...
