@MrCumEx Altria received the shares at a price of 126$ and is now selling them for 61.5$. So they are selling their shares at a loss of about 50%. I'm not saying it was a 50% loss across the board.
@TaxesAreTheft Your calculation is completely wrong. The maximum you can take into account is inflation. But everything else is pure nonsense. Any mathematician can tell you that.
@MrCumEx if I get something for 126$ and then sell it for 64$, that's a loss of 50%. I am not saying that Altria has made a general loss, on the contrary Altria has made a very decent profit. Nevertheless, its share in !ABI! lost 50% of its value.
@TaxesAreTheft I think they did it because they will have to pay less dividends from now on because there will be significantly fewer shares. This means they can continue to increase the dividend for at least another 10 years.
