Vivid had a promotion Invest without losing money. [1] I used this to try out the Investment Pocket. In short, you can put up to 100β¬ in a pre-selection of stocks and after 31 days all book losses are replaced. Important to know, you don't buy shares but derivatives and trading only takes place with CM-Equity, otherwise see link above.
I had put 100β¬ in Meta and the price went down for the most part. The cost of entry was 0.5β¬ for the conversion β¬ to $ plus about 0.5β¬ spread. Had then after the purchase about 99β¬ in the investment pocket.
I disliked the missing possibility to see my transactions in the Investment Pocket somehow clearly listed. Possibility one is to look in the pocket from which the money was taken, but there you have to search and select each transaction individually to see details. A real overview is only available via Profile > Documents > Overview of securities transactions > Period of time, where a pdf is generated.
I also found it somewhat unattractive that US securities can only be traded at US times, i.e. 15:30 to 22 o'clock. Conversely, EU securities can only be traded from 9:00 to 17:30.
Vivid made up my losses after the 31 days were up. Since I could not sell on the weekend anyway and Meta on Monday went quite well I held until Tuesday and sold the junk.
Balance:
100β¬ invested
+89,59β¬ left after sale
+11,72β¬ refund
= 101,31β¬ final amount
1,31β¬ profit after 33 days
I could also still use the 10,41β¬ for loss offsetting for derivatives, but I would have to find out how to make profit with derivatives.
Bottom line: nice to see they are keeping their promise, but I won't be using the Investment Pocket beyond promotions like this. I think the Vivid account itself is great, more on that in the post linked above.
