CEO says studies underway for business, commercial and defense jets

Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Neto confirmed that the Brazilian manufacturer is studying the possibility of producing larger aircraft in its commercial division, but emphasized that no decision has yet been made.

The potential move is attracting growing market interest, particularly as rivals such as Boeing face ongoing challenges. However, Mr. Gomes warned that talks were still at an exploratory stage.

"That's a good question and not an easy one to answer," he said. "Yes, customers are asking about our plans for larger aircraft. At the moment we are concentrating on selling the E2. We are also investing in new technologies for future products. These could include larger business jets, commercial aircraft or even defense platforms. We are conducting studies, but no decision has been made yet."

The manager also noted Embraer's progress in stabilizing the production flow. Whereas aircraft deliveries used to be heavily concentrated at the end of the year, the company has now managed to spread them more evenly over the quarters. "We are already seeing the results of these efforts this year. We expect greater production stability from 2026," he said.

Nevertheless, the aerospace industry is still struggling with bottlenecks in the supply chain. The most problematic components include fuselage parts and certain engine types.

"Nevertheless, we are making progress and approaching the production pace we need," said Mr. Gomes, reiterating that the company is sticking to its 2025 forecast despite the ongoing issues.

In the defense sector, the CEO highlighted Embraer's ongoing efforts to commercialize the KC-390 military transport aircraft in India. "We are working on the next steps and expect developments probably within the next two years," he said, pointing out that the window could include orders for 40 to 80 aircraft. He also confirmed that the E2 commercial jet will be marketed in India.
