AI glasses from Xiaomi

attachment

$1810 (-1,63%) has made an impressive start with its own AI glasses. Around 50,000 units have already been sold within a few weeks of the start of sales on June 26. The price is the equivalent of around 278 US dollars, which is remarkably cheap compared to similar products from Silicon Valley. The rapid development is particularly remarkable. The glasses were developed within a year by a small team under the direct leadership of CEO Lei Jun. Xiaomi is thus remaining true to its strategy of developing key technologies itself rather than relying on acquisitions. According to IDC, the market for smart glasses is currently growing rapidly in China. In the first quarter of 2025, it increased by almost 200% to 359,000 units. IDC even expects 2.9 million sales for the year as a whole. In comparison, demand outside of China remains subdued. If Xiaomi achieves a similar expansion to smartphones with its aggressive pricing policy, this could fundamentally change the market. But what happens if Western regulators react more sensitively to data protection-relevant hardware than in China

Takeaway

Xiaomi is not just bringing a product, but a strategic signal. AI hardware is being developed cheaper, faster and more confidently and could attack Apple and Meta on their own turf

I would be interested to know the blade suppliers. And whether the chips come from Qualcomm.

Good question. Yes, Xiaomi is relying on Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 chip for its new AI glasses. The same chip is also used in Meta's Ray Ban glasses and enables functions such as real-time translation, photo and video, voice control via XiaoAI and smart home integration. The system is complemented by the Bluetooth audio chip BES2700.

Xiaomi uses an ePOP memory with 32 GB and 2 GB RAM, which according to the latest data comes from Baiwei Storage. Baiwei is a leading flash supplier for AI glasses in China and also supplies other providers such as Meta.

In addition, Xiaomi announced a multi-year agreement with Qualcomm in May 2025 to secure cooperation on future AI devices. At the same time, Xiaomi is working on its own mobile processor, the 3 nm-based XRING O1. According to media reports, this chip will initially be used in tablets and smartphones, but will also be relevant for wearables in the medium term.

Conclusion
Yes, Qualcomm is currently supplying key chips for Xiaomi's AI glasses. Baiwei is a strong supplier of memory. At the same time, Xiaomi is preparing to become more independent for critical components in the long term.
