@Nessava Short sales are sales of shares that are not owned by the seller at the time the transaction is concluded. The seller "shorts" his position and bets on falling share prices with short sales because he assumes that the price will fall.

Example:

You borrow shares from a securities lender at a market price of e.g. €100 per share.
You then sell the shares on the market for €100 because you want to push the price down or assume that the price will fall.

At a later point in time, however, you have to buy them back at some point and return them to the securities lender (simply put) if the price has fallen, for example €80 per share, your profit per share is €20.

However, if it continues to rise, e.g. to €140, and you buy them back, you will have made a loss of €40.

In principle, it can continue to rise forever, that would be your risk/loss.

So if things go well and the share price continues to rise and the 30% ceiling is reached, this naturally pushes the price higher and higher, which is also referred to as a short squeeze in the case of significant jumps.
