Congratulations on the windfall, but do you realize that you have been paying dearly for it with a falling share price for a long time?

@TradingHase I bought five ounces of gold at the beginning of 2008. As of today: just under 15k. If ("if only") I had invested the same amount in $O and reinvested the dividends with full taxation every year, it would be around 18k today. I have no further questions.

@teschi What does that have to do with "would have"? The previous speaker pointed out that the price is constantly falling, at least in the annual view.

@TradingHase We'll talk about it again when interest rates are down again, which is the goal due to the national debt, and the price will rise again. Irrespective of that, the sideways price is at least of secondary importance to me, because I don't intend to sell them, but to pass them on ;)

@TradingHase Well. Over the year, the share price is down 8% or so, but if I look at the extended chart over the last few years, it's already going up.

The share price losses are certainly also linked to the dollar exchange rate and interest rates. As soon as something happens there, the share price will go up again.

The share is for people with a longer investment horizon. Of course, it's nothing for short-term trading.

@NichtRelevant That may be true, but the tied-up capital does not increase as a result of the price loss despite the distribution. So during the period of poor performance, it could actually generate profits elsewhere. That's what I mean by that.

@Psychedelic_Sunflower in order not to have to sell anything in the phase when others start paying out. Dividends are not as volatile as share prices. For my part, I would also like to bequeath my portfolio later.
