Purchase Novo Nordisk

$NOVO B (-1,83%)

Now it has happened.

Novo Nordisk has been on my watchlist for some time and is now also part of my portfolio.

The share price has been pushed down quite a bit in recent times, but I think that the company offers strong growth potential and currently even scores with an acceptable dividend yield.

What do you think of my decision to buy?

The next step will probably be $MSCI (+1,07%) stock up.

Why? And above all, why now? Trump has specifically announced tariffs for the pharmaceutical sector. And please don't write that it won't matter in the long term. Then you could have already bought at 100

@Multibagger and you think such an announcement is not yet being priced in?

@Lukas98 as long as the amount is not fixed
@Multibagger You can't say what will happen. If there are strong tariffs, the share price will fall a little...if it's all half as bad, it will rise. I think the purchase price is good.

@Multibagger Since Novo Nordisk already produces in the USA and is also investing heavily in the expansion of production capacities in the USA, the tariffs are not a major threat. Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine current production by geographical location from the company reports in order to assess the direct impact of tariffs.

@Seebi So, according to you, a share is no longer worth buying after a correction?
It is also very strange to call others lemmings for no reason.

@Seebi yes, the extra question marks :)

You can do that automatically. A fortnight ago I had a long chat with a Belgian who works in R&D for Lilly. Result: he doesn't invest in pharma at all, and especially not in biotech. We talked about what would happen in the group if Phase 3 failed and/or the protection was about to expire and the pipeline was empty for Phase 3. I myself have a large cemetery lot of Bayer in my portfolio. With specialty pharma, you really, really have to be in the subject. Squinting at P/E ratios etc. doesn't help if you're left without a product tomorrow. Then I prefer J&J as a symbolic "pharma ETF".

The handle of a falling knife does not make a good investment. 🤷

@Seebi The short consolidation after the drop could be a favorable moment to activate the lemming troll. 👍😁

Have just thrown in another 1k myself sure everyone is crying about the tariffs but the thing will go up again and whether that's now or in a few years it doesn't really itch me I buy cheaply in tranches until it has found the bottom and shows a clear turnaround 🫡

You would have been better off investing in $LLY.
1
@Olli68 Uh: NO. It wouldn't have. Do a Getquin benchmark between the two. And it looks even worse for $LLY compared to $NOVO B if you benchmark since 1990. And yes: the gap is justified, because $NOVO B is not a company for weight loss pills (but neither is EliLilly).
Eli is a good investment: but the better is the enemy of the good...

@Gomerdoc Prices from 1990 are irrelevant. The only important thing is how they are positioned today. And you can see from the current share price that they have massive problems. Eli Lilly is currently 3 steps ahead of you. Unfortunately, the problems are homemade. And that will become apparent in the next figures.

Irrespective of customs duties, the competitive situation is not insignificant.
