Yes, there are bigger ones, but I've been diligently reading about the investments they make for years and am often very impressed.

Are the investments more like joint ventures or do they tend to buy ailing companies, restructure them and then sell them?

@Staatsmann set up many funds and do classic PE which are then co-invested. Liquid, for example, invests via Apollo. Today I read that they still do something like deposit deals for larger investors through ... So also a little private credit to finance the PE business
