$TRE (-4,35%) It was announced today that Técnicas Reunidas, together with IDOM, has been awarded an important contract for the decarbonization of the ArcelorMittal steel plant in Dunkirk. This involves engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) for a new electric arc furnace with an annual capacity of around 2 million tons. The project volume on the ArcelorMittal side is around €1.3 billion. The plant is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by around two thirds compared to the traditional blast furnace route and will be operational from 2029.
Strategically interesting, as:
- TR is positioning itself more strongly in the "green steel" market,
- the focus on decarbonization continues to grow,
- and service/EPCm contracts are usually more margin-stable than classic lump-sum EPC projects
