Monte dei paschi di Siena

A couple of years ago, the Italian bank BMPS was on the brink of collapse. Now, the firm has just completed a takeover bid (OPAS) on Mediobanca, which essentially means that BMPS exchanged cash and some of its shares to acquire 60–61% of Mediobanca, thereby taking control of the company.

Do you think that the oldest, still running bank in the world will be here for another 600 years?

The state still own 10% in it, it is likely going to work with banca bpm due anima holding which was the first save holder/invester in italy with very high return numberw that banco bpm 100% bought with a public offer.
So due this and some stock sharing with credit agricole basically there is after intesa san paolo and unicredit a 3rd major group which is made buy an indirect economy collaboration by mps, credit agricole italia, and banco bpm.
Hard to say IF it Will remain autonomy or it will be opa into another group (credit agricole atm own 20% in both banco bpm and mps). The sich is a bit ankward some have asked to agricole to sell it's own italian segment but wont. At the same time they arent pushing an opa. The gain over anima collaboration should remain good/high but the majority if the profit will go into banco bpm which is the one i own.
