NVIDIA plans further investments, also in the USA

Nvidia $NVDA (+4,72%) has announced plans to invest billions in the expansion of its US sites. The aim is to strengthen the production of AI chips on home soil and become less dependent on Asia. The project is also to be supported by funding from the US government. The investment is part of a broader strategy to meet the growing demand for AI technology and mitigate geopolitical risks. Analysts see the move as a sign of the growing importance of semiconductors in the US economy.

Together with TSMC, the company plans to invest a total of $2330 to invest up to 500 billion US dollars in additional servers.

@Seebi I believe that DE is now an absolute taboo zone for many companies and many probably no longer even think about setting up locations here.

On the contrary - some of our domestic companies are being bought up or are increasingly relocating their business/production abroad.

Unfortunately, this is often due to economic reasons (often influenced by politics in Germany), which are solved far better in other countries - see taxes or the costs of operation itself (electricity, gas, water).

It is not for nothing that we have had a weakening GDP in percentage terms for two years in a row and thus an economic downturn....

@batic420 Yes, I agree, too many hurdles, expensive electricity prices, a lot of bureaucracy and laws that have to be complied with during construction, some of which can change in a few months, and possibly a bad reputation for investment or prejudices that the region is not even looked at.

@user03 In general, we have a big problem here in Germany. It's not just companies that are moving away from here, top performers are also being punished by high taxes and a lot of bureaucracy. The tax office also has a certain reputation for a reason...

Many clever minds emigrate to countries such as Switzerland or the USA because they are simply not put through the wringer by the state here. At some point, however, innovation comes to a standstill.

All in all, of course, companies are also put off because the great German innovation is slowing down and has long since ceased to be what it used to be 😅

I'm actually thinking about moving away in a few years, as I don't have much left for Germany, I have to admit 🙁

@useraf1a5826a4d147f6 Of course people are thinking about it, but nothing has been decided yet. At the moment, the whole thing is not yet a top priority for me (we'll see how that changes in the next government period...)

@batic420 Don't get your hopes up, I've already bought an apartment in Gran Canaria, just to be on the safe side

I have also been thinking about moving abroad for some time. Every year we have record income from taxes and duties, and yet taxes and duties increase every year. The only question is, where to?

@PaulPK Yes, South America has a charm. Unfortunately, I haven't made it there yet. I often travel to Asia for work.

@Kenneth_W Patagonia is also the safest place to be in the event of a nuclear conflict :) (Ask ChatGPT)
