In case anyone is still asking themselves this question:

$PLTR (-1,81%)

I am and will remain invested until further notice.

I am aware of the ethical problems with this company, but I justify this by the fact that the technology can be used just as well for just purposes as for authoritarian goals, and it is not yet clear which side Pltr will end up on.

Ethical investing:

An impossibility?

Overrated anyway?

Difficult, but possible?

Unpopular opinion, since we are on the secondary market, it doesn't matter ethically whether you hold Palantir and co. The shares are out, if I sell them for ethical reasons, it's only because someone else buys them. That's the nature of things, we move securities from A to B

@Imperial_Trading_Company I understand that. But ethics is mostly about personal attitudes and not about the success or failure of the company.

For example, if I am vegetarian, I may be vegetarian for different reasons (not just because I want less animal suffering, but perhaps because I am personally against animal suffering aka I don't want to get rich from animal suffering). These 2 points are different, even if they sound similar.

If you declare arms investments unethical, it's much more likely to be because of a Maxim that reads something like: "I don't want to profit from war/murder/etc." and not "I want war companies to have less money"

@MKR_ I think there are limits. At least I set them for myself.
Through the ETF I am of course invested in armaments, Tesla and, for example, United health care - I have come to terms with that, but when buying individual shares I have it in my own hands, and I value a clear conscience more than a possible monetary gain.

Ethics does not pay for redemption 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think it makes sense to draw a reasonably good line. Ethics may limit stock selection, but let's be honest: it's much more fun to hold an ethically "good" stock that is rising sharply than, for example, a $RHM. With the latter, there would be such an aftertaste all the time

Unfortunately, I missed out on $PLTR because I took a break from the stock market last year! Now the share is not interesting for me until further notice! Let's see how the company develops, maybe I'll still get in!
